Former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has described as a ‘smokescreen’ the decision of President Akufo-Addo to dismiss four heads of State owned institutions.
He lamented that the approach of government to terminate the contracts of CEO of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Felix Anya, CEO of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport (BOST) Company, Alfred Obeng Boateng, Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) CEO, Gifty Klenam and Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) CEO, Paul Asare Ansah was somewhat inappropriate and left much to be desired.
Taking his turn on Ghanaweb’s 21 Minutes with KKB, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe stated that government should have come out with the reasons the dismissed heads were given the kick to clear any doubts being harboured.
“…government has not come out with what they really did. If you want to shame people come out with what they have done. And that will even stop the rumour machine… this is done in civilized countries” he noted
“if it is about incompetence come out and talk about it so that the public will know… that is my problem with leadership in this country; not this present leadership, it has been present for years.” He added
In a related development however Government’s spokesperson on Governance and Legal Affairs, Herbert Krapa has come out to say that the sacking of the heads of the four State Owned Enterprises forms part of government’s restructuring drive.
Speaking on Citi FM/Citi TV’s news analysis programme, The Big Issue on Saturday, Herbert Krapa insisted that the CEOs were sacked to pave the way for other equally competent people to take over to drive the president’s vision for the country.
“President after a year and a half is in such a place that he is able to have a holistic view of what is happening in the various sectors of the government of his administration and be able to say which people are running with his speed to deliver on the mandate of change that he has which people to step aside with some renewed force and energy to come and deliver on the mandate that the president has.”
He further explained that the Korle Bu CEO was however sacked because of his age.
“…one of them is a bit of a technical matter and has to do with the CEO of the Korle Bu Teaching hospital. Dr Anyah was still acting, and the public services commission could not recommend his approval because of his age. This is because, for them, Dr Anyah had gone beyond the statutory age limit that is why his appointment was not confirmed,” Krapa clarified

Gelalahe wo hom. when your nephew JDM was dripping sugar in your mouth you decided to turn against your own party for your selfishness and never saw anything wrong with his extreme level of incompetence and corrup-tion. Nyame na wetua wo kaw. Wo ho na wo atu gelalahe wo hom.
Its true Nyaho. Nana Addo himself is currupt that is why he used that tactics. Corrupt Prez.
I have disagreed with Nyaho on many occasions but not this time. This government needs lessons on communication and 'managing' the expectations of the citizenry. Getting more disappointed on a daily basis.
This man is a cockroach.
What about those MDCEs who are supervising illegal mining in their district. Again those who are now found to be criminals before their appointments and competent due diligence were failed to be done by Mac Manu committee which a typical onew is the Oda Municipality. Oda constituency people are watching and waiting for the whip to be cracked
