Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has empathized with the embattled Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi for being caught on video allegedly accepting bribe.
Mr. Nyantakyi was seen in the recent investigative video by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team receiving $65000 and using the names of the President and Vice President of the Republic to transact a shoddy business.
Though Mr. Nyantakyi is under investigation by the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, he has however challenged the facts put out by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his team.
He has denied claims regarding funding of his trip to Dubai as well as the specific airline he traveled with.
According to a Ghanaweb publication on Wednesday, Mr. Nyantakyi insists he paid for his own "tickets whilst Tiger Eye PI team has also released an invoice with identification number, 16411993 dated 17th, October, purported to be that of Emirates, an Arab airline, which according to them confirms the arrangement of ticket for the travel of Mr. Nyantakyi to and from Dubai".
He's also challenged the amount he's purported to have received from the business mogul in the Anas' exposé, alleging that prior to the premiering of the investigative video at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Wednesday, June 6; he was contacted to make a payment of $150000 to the Tiger Eye PI team to prevent the public from viewing but was only able to cough up $100000.
The team, he reportedly noted, rejected his offer.
Tiger Eye PI has however denied all claims by Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Mr. Nyantakyi also, in a statement, is quoted to have said that his email has been tampered by hackers and so doubts the authenticity of the reports in the public domain.
Speaking on Wednesday's edition of "Kokrokoo" on Peace FM, Kweku Baako also challenged the claims by Kwesi Nyantakyi in revealing documents to prove Mr. Nyantakyi's email may not have been hacked.
According to him, he has records of the telephone conversations as well as email correspondences between Mr. Nyantakyi and the undercover business magnate he was dealing with.
He hinted that during Mr. Nyantakyi's travel to Dubai, he (Nyantakyi) took along and paid for the hotel accommodation of President of Liberia, George Weah, supposedly bringing him on board to be part of the deal but the team declined the meeting.
“He actually took George Weah and two others to Dubai, ostensibly to meet Tiger. I have all the emails and the truth is that the Tiger team did not meet them because for them, it was not part of their agenda. They did not and Kwesi Nyantakyi got angry…”
Though refuting the claims by Mr. Nyantakyi, Mr. Baako told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that he is very hurt and concerned about the trying experience of Mr. Nyantakyi.
Mr Baako further stated that he wished Mr. Nyantakyi had not compromised his position because it's affected his family, particularly his wife and children.
Mr. Baako explained that he was been a supporter of Mr. Nyantakyi over the years but there was nothing he could have done to salvage his (Nyantakyi) situation.
“I’ve backed him and I like him. This is a painful experience. I’m genuinely hurt except that there’s no way I could have controlled or manipulated the process in his favour", he stressed.

Nyantakyi have been caught in the web and it will be difficult for him to free himself from some of the things he said and did in Anas' #12 video. I am also beginning to doubt the credibility of the methodology of the investigation. The actual amount he was said to have collected does not add up from the video scenery of 8 bundles of $50 notes. His $40,000 claim seems to be more credible than Anas' figure of $65,000. The bundles were equal in size and a $50 bundle was seen in the bundles that nyantakyi collected. The voice over of 'this is for shopping' seems to be inconsistent and inappropriate for any situational analysis and could not have been part of the conversation at the time. These observations from the video have created doubts in mind about the story told by Anas with regard to this particular scene.
For my personal experience, I will interpret Kwesi Nyantekyi's fall to him 'over staying in his position as GFA boss. Had he stepped down, he would have maintained his FIFA, and CAF positions. God blessed him with a higher CAF, and FIFA jobs but he wont let go GFA president, then he lost all. I will say Kwesi Nyantekyi's term was over in GFA, God wanted him somewhere (FIFA, and CAF), spiritually Anas was used as an instrument to take him from GFA, and Anas did not even know what he was doing. As for Kweku Baako, he has been working with Anas for long at Crusading Guide newspaper, and Tiger eyePI, so he will stand in for him no matter what. Nyantekyi should have known when many people including Songo, Randy Abbey, and black star player were not for him. He overstayed when people were not for his position in GFA. I once had a job I definately knew they weere looking for anymeans posible to fire me, when it all happened I asked myself why didnt I resign earlier?
Kweku Baako is loosing credibility. He is a big hypocriteeee. As for Anas, he is bogussssss. these people trap people who are not in their circles?? is it fair? is this justice? is this objectivity? and some ghanaians are also supporting them. I HAVE ADMIRED KWEKU BAAKO ALL THESE YEARS BUT WITH THIS ANAS BOGGGUSSS ISSUES I HAVE LOST RESPECT FOR HIM BECAUSE HE HAS PROVED BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT THAT HE IS BIAS AND HAS LOST THE VALUES OF TRUTH IN HIM. KWEKU BAAKO IS BECOMING A NUUUISANCE IN THE SOCIETY
I am prophesying that this Anas issue will bring the image downfall of Kwaku Baako and other hypocrites who are behind this attempt to bring Nyantakyi down. Natural justice will examine all of such people and pass fair judgement in this whole issue.
Mr. Nyantakyi i think it is time you allow sleeping dogs to lie. The harm is already done so why worry again? With these challenges, none of your former roles would be given to you, not even the GFA seat. Please there is new ways ahead. Focus on the future and let these trends be a lesson to gain a better future. Everyone has a black label or something bad tagged in life but let us learn to be moderate and eschew negative and unproductive behaviors. Mr. Nyantakyi please forget the past, start a new life and your attitude ahead would reflect to the world what you want the world to know about you. No PR lines can work now but real action in your new life.
Mr. Baako. Before this issue your opinions always mattered to me in arriving at my own deductions on national issues. I feel somewhat disappointed. Not because wide-mouthed FA boss implicated his own character and image in a bizarre circumstance, but because the cherry-picking of issues and persons we choose to admire and love and standby no matter what is the crux of the issue. So no matter how wrong they are, we turn an eye to it. Can Anas dare investigate Kwame Sefa Kaye, even if he had a sense from his long nose that he was into something untoward. Why? because they might be friends if i can extend your close with both to the matter According to this report, You noted: “I’ve backed him and I like him. This is a painful experience. I’m genuinely hurt except that there’s no way I could have controlled or manipulated the process in his favour" Keyword word is there is no way you could have controlled the event in his favour yet Anas they man you love is seen in a video trying to control things in the favour of one of his implicated 'investigatees' purportedly to be compensated for that action. Indeed this 50,000 dollar bribe-to-let-go-story has not be highlighted in any of the statements you have issued on this matter. Again your beloved Anas is at horse speed to sue Kennedy Agyapong and not the Hafiz gentleman. Beats my mind how you can posture yourself to cherry-pick issues that way. Be fair ok? and i hope you read this yourself. Your respect has plummeted.
