Reports have it that lots of awarded contracts are suffering completion due the processes that led to their introduction.
According to the two panelists, Joseph Yamin and Kennedy Kankam on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ Newspaper discussion segment today, Ghana is in lack of investors due to the illegal processes investors must go through before they are granted permit to operate in this country.
They confessed the country has lost lots of investors due to the procedures the front liners approached them with.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Kennedy Kankam stated “the lobbying around investors is a number factor against Ghana’s development, especially foreign sponsors”.
“How should an investor pay an amount to an intermediary before way is paved for him to meet the right authorities that can grant him the permit to actualize his plans in the country”.
In a passionate mood, Mr. Kankam asserted that the same thing implies to contractors, the reason behind their lack of funds to finish projects allocated them. Until we desist from such behaviors’ as citizens of this land particularly top officials, our country we continue to suffer expansion.
“It is only in Ghana that a contractor has to pay 10% fee of the contract awarded him to the awarder before he begins work, sometimes affecting his finances to finishing the job”
“… This government should put proper structures in place to fight this lobbying battle, for Ghana to be a welcoming home for development,” Hon. Kankam insisted.
