Controversial lawyer, Maurice Ampaw, has challenged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to act appropriately on corruption issues leveled against some of his appointees to show his seriousness in the fight against graft.
According to him, the Nana Addo-led government whose foremost campaign promise was to fight corruption is failing to either curb or eradicate the canker.
“NPP is losing the fight against corruption. I must be frank with the president. He must act appropriately,” he said.
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Maurice Ampaw, wondered why some key members of the Akufo Addo’s government are up in arms against the exposé by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas to fight corruption.
“They [NPP] have the power now so they don’t support exposés. It is surprising to hear and know that majority of those attacking Anas are all NPP members. The likes of Kennedy, Rev Owusu Bempah and Wontumi who are attacking Anas are all close to the president,” he said.
Adding that, “They [NPP] are afraid that Anas will expose the rot in their government. These are the people who praised Anas as an Angel for exposing corrupt judges during Mahama’s era”.

NPP lost the fight against corruption even before taking up power.
THIS IS WHAT IS GOING TO BRING THIS GOVERNMENT DOWN. SHOW OF LOVE FOR PARTY INSTEAD OF SHOWING SOME LOVE FOR THE COUNTRY. THEY SEE EVERYTHING WRONG ABOUT WHATEVER THEY SAW RIGHT SOME YEARS AGO.... THIS SPEAKS VOLUMES AND WHOEVER THINKS HE OR SHE CAN REALLY SABOTAGE ANAS FOR BRINGING OUT THE ROT IN GHANA IS GOING TO BE KICKED OUT LIKE RAWLINGS DID TO ACHEAMPONG... ONE THING THESE GOVERNMENT SHOULD KNOW IS THAT, THE YOUTH IN GHANA REALLY HAVE STARTED THINKING ALIKE AND THAT IS A WORRY.. IT IS A WORRY AND THE EARLIER THE PRESIDENT DOES SOMETHING ABOUT IT THE BETTER... GHANA WILL SEE A VERY HOSTILE TIMES SOON... GHANA IS BLEEDING
this is the most childish argument I have ever heard. In any way, has Anas ever investigated govt officials before so why are you saying NPP govt fear he ll expose them. Every Ghanaian who is found to be corrupt should be thoroughly investigated. Going forward, I want govt to make certain reviews concerning fighting corruption. 1. the law that says both the giver and taker of bribe are guilty should be applied at all times irrespective of who's is doing investigation. 2. No one should be allowed to premiere edited investigation video; such videos should be given to state institutions for further investigations and prosecution 3. No body should be allowed to give evidence in court in a masked; after all we know Manasseh yet he's able to do high profile investigations that put govt officials on their toes 4. we should tolerate only real time investigation videos. I want this piece to reach Nana Addo and Martin Amidu and the rest of relevant stake holders. thank you.
The catch word in this modern world is objectivity. I am surprised of how people do not want to tolerate any alternative view to that of Anas and his godfather Kweku Baako. No one is above the law in Ghana and if it is true that Anas uses the threats of his expose to blackmail people then he is definitely worse than those he investigates. Why is Maurice and his cohorts against someone who says he has a counter allegation or evidence against Anas? After all, every one has their choice so let the people decide and not Anas and Kweku Baako alone. I am still waiting to see the 'Who watches the watchman". The other allegations trickling in on Anas using his works to grab lands and extort moneys from his victims leave much to be desired and Ghanaians must be careful and tread cautiously!
