Former President John Dramani Mahama has said he will create more jobs for nurses and other health workers if he is elected as president again.
Mr Mahama said his government had the intention to build health facilities in every district so as to create room for more nurses and other health workers to be employed.
That intention, he said, was not understood very well by the nurses, thus, leading to agitations and protests against his government at the time he was in office.
The former president revealed that the next NDC government would, therefore, dialogue with the nurses about the best way forward in achieving that goal.
Should he return to office, he said, his government will continue with the expansion of health facilities to accommodate all nurses.
Mr Mahama, who is campaigning to be flag bearer of the NDC again, said this at Nalerigu in the Northern Region after students of the Nalerigu Nursing Training College mobbed his convoy.
“If you don’t create new opportunities for health workers by building new facilities, then you cannot employ them…,” he said.
The NDC, he noted, “will continue the process that we started of expanding hospitals, building new hospitals and creating opportunities for our health workers to tackle employment”.
In his view, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has brought untold hardships on Ghanaians since, according to him, the party made lofty promises which its government is yet to fulfil.
Mr Mahama said the next NDC government will assuage the plight of Ghanaians.

So the nurses, teachers and doctors should not eat for four good years for all Hospitals to be built before they eat. Hmmm, Ghana and Politics!!!! As you were saying that, your people were buying V8's for themselves; Kofi Adams alone bought 2 Land Cruisers for ghc1,600, 2 Pick Ups, houses, etc but the rest of us were told there was no money.
Don't change your policies because of power. I am NPP supportor but I still support you on your decision to stop nurses and teachers alliwances. The allowances were in the olden days meant to entice people to go to the training institutions. Now individuals are paying to train themselves and come out without jobs so why do politician promising allowances. Be consistent and let the citizens judge you because you can give them jobs.
Ghanaians lets pray for this man oooooo! He is somebody's son. He is so confused and do not know what to say again. Where is Akua Donkor? If she claims that this man is her son after collecting cars from him, this is the time he needs her as a mother to advice him. The man is so desperate to come back to finish all money left and continue his free distribution of V8 and finally collapse the Ghanaian economy. You sent Ghana to IMF after inheriting a sound economy from your predecessor.
I wonder how people still following Formal president. About 21 month ago he was on power and there were so many unemployed nurses why did he employ them. He has now seen that the broken economy that he left has now bunch back because by next year the IMF that he sent us will be over so he can now employ people. MR formal president no body is going to vote for APART FROM YOUR NDC so that ur wife will be indirectly become Vice president. We know all your plans since it is going to be your last to be come president you will take all our money and enjoy it with your family. NO WAY NO WAY
Is the Ex-President telling us that all health facilities in Ghana had their full complement of nurses at the time he was leaving office? In any case which hospitals or clinics did the NPP government post the nurses it had recruited to, Burkina Faso or where? The truth is that the economy was broke under NDC for them to employ those poor nurses. The economy is now picking up under NPP so he thinks is easy to give employment to somebody. The economy has to be competently managed before you can give employment. Someone should tell the Ex-President that Ghanaians have their thinking caps intact and on.
HOOO SHAME, ***barred word***. IT'S TOO LATE. YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE AND YOU BLEW IT. NEVER AGAIN.
And after borrowing so much to build all the hospitals and running back to the IMF to bail you out again, how are you going to employ and pay the nurses? This is an old Mahama playbook. We've seen it before!
Mr Mahama ,now your effusions are becoming increasingly comical. Only months ago you rubbished nurses and cancelled their allowances in school.By the time you left office ignominiously with your tail tucked between your legs like a mangy dog, there were many of these people without jobs. Now you want to employ them? And pay them with what? Some of the cash you've stashed in the Cayman Islands?
GHANAIANS WERE TOLD BY AMBASADOR OSEI THAT JOHN MAHAMA IA A DRUNKARD I WANT TO BELIEVE HIS WORD THE WAY HE TALK AND DO HIS THINGS I BELIEVE SO. HOW CAN YOU PROMISE NURSES A JOB? WHEN YOU WERE LEAVING OFFICE GHANA HAD OVER 40 THOUSAND UNEMPLOYED NURSES. IN TWO YEARS NANA ADDO HAS GIVEN JOB TO OVER THIRTY THOUSAND NURSES SO WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. AS YOU SAID GOD HIMSELF REJECTED YOU AND HE WILL CONTINUE TO REJECT YOU. YOU ARE DOOMED AND WILL REMAIN AS SUCH. NEVER CAN YOU CLIMB THE SEAT OF PRESIDENCY.SAVE THE LITTLE MONEY YOU HAVE SO YOU CAN LIVE LONG ON IT SIR.
LOOK MAHAMA PEOPLE ARE INSULTING YOU TOOOOOO MUCH. CAN HIS WIFE ADVISE HER HUSBAND? REALLY THIS MAHAMA FAMILY ARE DOWN CRAZY IN POLITICS. ANY WAY LET ME ALSO INSULT HIM - MAMAMA YOU ARE A BIG FOOOOOOOOOOOOL
