The Minority Caucus in Parliament wants President Nana Akufo-Addo to with immediate effect sack the Minister of Education, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh and the Minister in charge of Tertiary Education, Prof Kwasi Yankah or they humbly resign themselves.
According to the minority, the duo publicly endorsed the hall conversion policy implemented by the KNUST and described it as government's policy.
The minority made the demand at a press conference addressed by its leader Hon Haruna Iddrisu at Parliament House on Monday amidst the crisis at KNUST.
The Minority condemned the attempt to scapegoat the Vice Chancellor of KNUST Prof Kwasi Obiri-Danso and hold him solely responsible for the current crisis at the university.
The minority also condemned what it described as government's unlawful conduct in dissolving the Council of KNUST and called for immediate reversal of the decision.
Hon Haruna Iddrisu criticised government's attempt to undermine the authority of the Chancellor of the KNUST, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and disrupt his mediation efforts he had commenced to resolve the impasse.
Government tasked the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is also the Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, (KNUST) to reconstitute the governing council of the university that was dissolved last week.
After a marathon meeting on Monday, government also disclosed that the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) have decided to call off their strike.
Meanwhile, the university is expected to re-open on November 8, for academic work to resume.
The latest decision by government came after massive pressure by UTAG, TEWU, OccupyGhana and several bodies called on government to reinstate the previous governing council.
The governing council was dissolved after riots by students led to the destruction of school properties including over 40 vehicles and motorbikes.
The university was immediately shut down and the Vice Chancellor Prof. Obiri-Danso asked to step aside.

KNUST SAGA CLEARLY REVEALS HOW FUNNY MANY GHANAIANS COULD BECOME. IT SAD THAT MANY GHANAIANS PAY ATTENTION TO SIDE ISSUES THAN SUBSTANTIVE MATTERS. THEY ACT AND EXPRESS THEIR EMOTIONS TO WRONG PERSONS, WRONG PLACES AND THE WRONG TIME. THE GOVERNMENT ACTED PROMPTLY TO STOP THE RAMPAGE OF THE KNUST STUDENTS. ALL THE SO CALLED STAKE HOLDERS, FOLDED THEIR ARMS TO LOOK ON HELPLESSLY WHEN THEY WERE NEEDED MOST TO STOP THE SENSELESS ACT. THE EMERGENCY DECISIONS, THOUGH NOT ENTIRELY PERFECT, WERE NECESSARY TO STOP THE CHAOS. JUST AFTER THAT EVERY TOM, HARRY AND DICKKKKK IN GHANA BECAME LAWYERS AND PROMOTERS OF LEGALITY TO CONDEMN THE SAVING INTERVENTION OF GOVERNMENT. THIS IS UNGRATEFULNESS AND HYPOCRISY. NO MATTER ONE MIGHT JUDGE, THE GOVERNMENT SHOWED LEADERSHIP TO TAKE A PRECISE PRAGMATIC STEPS TO CONTROL SITUATION AND BROUGHT ORDER. INDEED IT IS THE ORDER CREATED BY GOVERNMENT THAT HAS GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO ALL OTHERS TO EXPRESS WHAT HAS NOW BECOME THEIR RIGHT AS STAKE HOLDERS HENCE THE THE DEMAND OF ALL, RECKLESS STUDENTS, DESPOTIC MANAGEMENTS, DISPASSIONATE EDUCATORS AND HYPOCRITICAL ONLOOKERS TO BECOME ADVOCATES OF THE RULE OF LAW AND INDICATORS FOR ILLEGALITY. IT INGRATITUDE TO APPRECIATE THE THE BOLD AND PRECISE STEPS THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS PLAYED TO CHANGE THE DYNAMICS OF THE IMPASSE. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE KEEP THE RIGHT FOCUS TO ADDRESS THE CAUSES AND THE EXTENT OF THE RAMPAGE TO EXPOSE AND REPAIR THE WEAKNESS EXHIBITED BY THE SO CALLED STAKEHOLDERS TO AVOID ANY FURTHER INNACTION TO MAINTAIN A SERENE AND CONDUCIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE UNIVERSITY.
