The Ashaiman Constituency Chairman of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Tony Afenyo, on Monday, October 29, 2018 engaged the party’s Constituency Operations Officer, Carlos Usman in a fight over a misunderstanding.
The fight ensued when the Constituency Chairman, who is a staunch supporter of flag-bearer hopeful, Goosie Tanoh, led some youth to splash his preferred candidate’s campaign posters all over the Constituency ahead of a planned visit on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 by former President John Dramani Mahama, who is also seeking to, once again, become the flag bearer ahead of the 2020 poll.
Mr Afenyo’s action got the party’s Operations Officer, who is also a staunch supporter of Mr Mahama, unnerved, leading to a confrontation and subsequent fisticuffs between the two.
Speaking to journalists about the rift, Mr Usman said: “Tony has been doing certain things in Ashaiman that I’ve been quiet [about] for a long [time] but I think it’s time for me to bring him to book.”
“I don’t care, he can support his Goosie Tanoh, it’s a game, but he being a Chairman should, at least, remain neutral. John Mahama is coming to Ashaiman today (referring to yesterday), and [last] night as of 10 pm, we were at the premises to make sure we fix the lights and everything, and Tony ordered his boys to come to the premises with Goosie Tanoh’s posters, pasting it at the premises.”
Mr Usman said Mr Afenyo also instructed his boys to deface Mr Mahama’s posters with Mr Tanoh’s.
“So, I swore to Tony that he shouldn’t try anything about JM. I promised him I will not even allow him to enter the premises today when JM arrives. He should wait, when Goosie Tanoh comes to Ashaiman then he should do those things. So, we fought, he gave me a blow and I also retaliated and I won the fight because I have never lost anything,” he stated.

NDC is primitive in everything, internal politicking na problem dey proper. As opposition Party, you can forget, Governance na corruption. What again now?
Are you not here in Ghana to arrest him yourself and place him jail or you are on pluto or mars?
It is a horrible shame that this Mahama should even be allowed to run again - he should be in jail.
Mahama, Goosie In Blows Over Posters? This is just the beginning. As the race heats up you will see National executives of the party throwing punches at each other. Do not be surprised to see flag-bearer hopefuls shift from war of words to blows. Who on this earth can imagine the extent the NDC can go when it comes to vices? Remember what happened between Kwabena Adjei and Obed Asamoa at the Koforidua congress?
And you are the most foooooooouuuuuuulish greedy KWESI PAUL.....JDM will forever be the winner, if this is not ok for you, GO AND BURN THE SEA GREEDY KWESI PAUL FOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUL
