Minister for Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah believes the resolution of the impasse between the Abudu and Andani families was made possible by the fact that President Akufo-Addo impressed on both families he is “Abudani”; who belongs to both sides.
Speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Hon. Oppong Nkrumah averred that it took the confidence and the trust the two parties reposed in President Akufo-Addo to understand the need to come to a compromise to end the conflict.
“If you want to settle dispute between two families, the first thing to do is that the parties must have confidence and trust in you that you are not biased...when you talk to them, what they say is that when President Akufo-Addo met the two families, he told them he is neither Abudu nor Andani be he his Abudani...he told them he does not support any faction in the chieftaincy dispute and so they had confidence in him to solve the dispute and ensured that the two families compromised in the resolution,” he asserted.
He reiterated that even though nobody dictated to the Eminent Chiefs on how to do their work, the position of the President, urging the two parties to compromise for progress to prevail and with unbiased “Abudani” comment helped to finally end the decade-old impasse.
“...these two things, the two parties having confidence in the President due to his unbiased statement and the truth that compromise is the way out, helped in cementing the peace at Dagbon after 16 years of chieftaincy dispute”, he claimed.
The Information Minister showered praises on the Committee of the three Eminent Chiefs, Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Nayiri-Mahamid Sheriga and the Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa I for their roles played in seeing to it that the Dagbon conflict was successfully resolved.

@Ama.What will you gain or loose if you offer a little appreciation and gratitude to the President for this historic feat? Had this negotiations and peace settlement failed, the likes of you would have seriously blamed the President. Anaa? Let us all pray for the Peace to continue to prevail among the families and in Dagbon.
You are such a wonderful analyst. Kudos.
People are so funny. This akuffo addo guy couldn't even resolve conflict between his own party leadership before the 2016 election, and had to sack the core leadership of his party. He saw two party big shots killed under his leadership and you want us to believe the he played any key role in resolving the dagbon conflict. This is an insult to otumfour and the other eminent chiefs as well as the people of dagbon. For over 16years otumfour had led the peace process, so for someone to even suggest that nana addo did anything to ensure this peace is laughable. If otumfour will be frank with us, for all you know nana addo never even sat in any meeting between the factions as well as the mediators. The man could not even finished media encounter with the press and run away to go and sleep, so how can such a lazy guy help bring peace. All knows is sleep all day for others to work hard for peace and come and read plagiarized speeches. He heard Donald Trump used the AMERICAN PEOPLE, so he also always says the GHANAIAN PEOPLE. PHONY guy.
