The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Otokunor says the party will not respond when the Justice Emile Short Commission of Inquiry invites them to help assist in investigations into the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence.
According to him, they do not trust the Commission because they (Commission) have been set up to ‘whitewash the President'.
Otokunor who was speaking in an interview on Citi Eyewitness news alleged that “the composition of the committee tells you they are coming to do a cover up for the president . . . we think the Commission that was set up was rather a defective one and problematic from the onset.”
“We cannot be committed to this commission because we know it is a Commission to come and whitewash the president . . . we do not support, and we are not going to give any cooperation whatsoever,” he added.
Background
Government on Thursday set up a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the violence which occurred during the by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency on January 31, 2019.
The three-member commission has Mr Justice Emile Short as Chairman, with Professor Henrietta Mensah-Bonsu and Mr Patrick K. Acheampong as members.
A statement signed by Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, indicated that "Mr. Ernest Kofi Abotsi, former Dean of the Faculty of Law of GIMPA and private legal practitioner, has been appointed as Secretary to the Commission".

Look at his mouth posseeeeee like posible. You have such w0rthless pea sized brain elements leading the NDC? may the de-v1l save their party.
What sort of leadership is NDC showing.Otukunor you are a disgrace
And so what should we do? Too much noise from this incompetent opposition
Who cares.... If you will not cooperate go and burn the sea..... Corrupt, evil, wicked NDC people.
If you are not prepared to cooperate with the Commission, then it means you have something to hide. The Commission will not wait for you to do its work. The Commission work is better than the street demonstration you undertook yesterday.
Running away from you EVIL shadows? NDC has NOTHING for Ghana!
TEETH FOR TEETH.
Look at his teeth like that of a rabbit. You see, this is a clear example of those who got into politics from University without any work experience. He sees politic as a last resort to success. Other than that he has no tool to make any headway. To such young guys in the NDC, is a desperate do and die affair or business. I believe you would obviously appreciate my determination of citing Kwadwo Nkrumah-Oppong as an indicative of young politicians who had made their mark professionally are better prepared to take up a political appointment and perform better. The NDC as a party has poor past record in terms of tradition and Democracy. It is indeed, an eyesore to see NDC-youth fritter away their time and lie through politics and believe they are politicians. No wonder a former President of the NDC-tradition trades on violence as their trademark.
Otokunor and his cohorts if you have no respect for yourselves do not extend it to others. Emile Short appointed by your own JJ too? Henrietta Mensah Bonsu is not affiliated to any party. Loosing this 2016 elections has made the NDC go berserk. God grant you and your cohorts wisdom in this year of wisdom
NDC DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT. LET GHANAIANS LEAVE THEM
