Former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong has admonished Ghanaians to boycott the 2020 General Elections if vigilante groups are not banned.

According to him no one should go out and vote if the NPP and NDC continue their 'All-die-be-die' and 'Boot-for-Boot' businesses.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he expressed disappointment in the government for tolerating such illegality and feared Ghana will be plunged into chaos if such groups affiliated to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are not disbanded.

“Ghana is sitting on a time bomb since NDC and NPP are still using vigilante groups . . . because they are both beneficiaries therefore using them to their own advantage.

“What happened to President Akufo-Addo’s slogan (The battle is the Lords) adding it would have been better if former president Mahama didn't make his 'boot-for-boot' comment . . . please in 2020 elections lets allow Ghana’s democracy to work,” he bemoand.

He blamed the NDC and NPP for giving legitimacy to such hoodlums to perpetrate violence during elections.

His comment follows the violence in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections which led to about 17 sustaining gunshot wounds and a Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George assaulted.

The task force, masked and heavily armed, stormed a polling station at La-Bawalashie and shot at persons engaged in the electoral process.

It is not yet known what may have prompted the armed security personnel to shoot and injure at least six persons, but police have launched a full-scale investigation.

Government has also set up a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the incident - A former Commissioner at the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Justice Emile Short is the Chairperson of the Commission while former Dean of the Faculty of Law of GIMPA and private legal practitioner, Mr. Ernest Kofi Abotsi has been appointed as Secretary to the Commission.

Seriously this man has shocked me. A man of God speaking like this, NO NO NO. He should know better and speak like a peace maker. He is having voice now because the NPP people are lenient with him. If he wants to boycott he should stay away and serious people like some of use will go and vote and elect leaders for him. He is talking too much of late. Cant the Presbyterian Church of Ghana call him to order.Even his Moderator who is the leader of the Church doesn't speak by-heart like that. It is good that the Presbyterian Church of Ghana did not vote for him to become the Moderator last year. He would have put the name of the church into disrepute by now. He is talking too much of late. What i know is that as minister of the Gospel from time to time you can come out and comment on issue and not that now he is like a serial caller on Okay fm. Presbyterian Church ensure that they dont give him any post else he will put the church into hatred. He should learn from his moderator. He doesn't open his mouth just that so anytime a statement is issued on his behalf there are sense in it. Yesterday i heard him the moderator asking the President in a polite way to apologize to Ghanaians about Ayawaso incident. But this Opuni Frimpong talk just like an ordinary serial caller of a social commentator. We are tired of him. His days are gone. He should allow his successor to comment on some of these issues.

Man of God doesn't speak as a stray politician. You better stay away from political talk and attempt to ensure peace as a representative of Jesus Christ who is the Prince of Peace.
