The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the Member of Parliament for Assin Central constituency, Kennedy Agyapong to stop intimidating officers who are doing their constitutionally mandated duty.
This follows a clash between the MP and a police officer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) when both parties were trying to calm tensions in the school on Thursday, March 14.2019.
In a video gone viral on social media, the maverick MP was seen and heard intimidating and reportedly threatening to have a police officer dismissed.
In a press statement signed by ACP David Eklu, head of Public Affairs, the Service took very strong exception to the behaviour of Kennedy Agyapong.
According to the statement, "the Police Administration has also taken note of the fact that the Central Regional Police Commander who was at the spot instantly told Mr. Kennedy Agyapong he had no powers to dismiss any Police Officer performing his or her lawful duties. The Police Administration, therefore, wishes to affirm the stance of the Central Regional Police Commander that, nobody wields the authority to cause the dismissal of a Police Officer without lawful justification and due process".
"The Police Administration, therefore, takes very strong exception to the behavior of Mr. Kennedy Agyapong who is a Member of Parliament and advises him to be mindful of his actions towards Police Officers whilst performing their lawful duties".

Please you must arrest Kennedy Agyapong. He is not above law. Police administration don't set this example and let him go scout free. Citizenry are laughing at the institution, do something now and it must be now.

The police have all this while been "docile" to politicians because of the fear of transfers. If they were not corrupt and so feared to be sent to "dry lands", they would be able to assert their mandatory authority without fear or favor. The top hierarchy of the service should let this be the begining of something good for the country.
If an ordinary Ghanaian has acted the same way that Kennedy Agyapong behaved, the police would have arrested him and placed behind bars. My question is, are there two laws in Ghana? one law for politician and another for Kofi Atta. It's not too late to arrest Kennedy Agyapong and arraigned before court to answer for his action. The press release from the police administration is unnecessary. If you want us to believe no one can intimidate you, please do the right. Arrest him now or stop playing victim.
I think it is high time someone called these puffed up MPs to order. As for Kennedy Agyepong if the NPP does not take care this man will single handedly lead them into opposition. The man is so arrogant so full of himself and since the party won power actually believes he is more powerful than the president himself. You should hear the insults he throws at anyone he believes stands in his way I will not be surprised if on Monday he goes to town on this police officer who is warning him. The man must be made to understand that he is not above any law in this country. We voted for Nana Addo because we believe he has the will and ideas that will transform this country We do not recognise Kennedy Agyapong in the scheme of things and we don't care if he put 1billions dollars into the campaign
Has anybody wondered what prompted Ken to "intimidate" the police officer. We must not be quick to conclude things.Wait to hear the side of Ken's part.
THE POLICE OR WHOEVER IN CHARGE SHOULD GIVE SIMILAR WARNING TO SAM GEORGE. HIS BEHAVIOR AT AYAWASO BY-ELECTION WAS SAME OR EVEN WORSE THAN WHAT KEN AGYAPONG DID. THE NATIONAL SECURITY AT AYAWASO WAS ALSO PERFORMING NATIONAL ASSIGNMENT TO CURTAIL AN UNFORESEEABLE THREAT. IT HAS BECOME CLEAR FROM SHORT'S COMMISSION THAT THE GANG AMASSED AT NDC CANDIDATES HOUSE WAS UP TO DO SOMETHING EVIL TO DISTURB THE ELECTION.THANK GOD THE NATIONAL SECURITY PRO-ACTED TO NIP THE THREAT IN ITS BUD. NEXT TIME ARREST KEN AGYAPONG AND SAM GEARGE WHEN THEY ASSAULT SECURITY PERSONNELS ON DUTY. KEN AND SAM GEORGE ARE NUISANCE AS PARLIAMENTARIANS. KEN IS DOING A LOT OF GOOD IN GHANA BUT HE DESTROYS ALL HIS GOOD DEEDS WITH HIS UNCIVILIZEDDD ACTIONS.
