Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress [NDC], Kwaku Boahen has cautioned Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa not to have meetings within meetings to discuss issues of her own and later present it as an accepted decision taken by stakeholders.
He said there are laws that should prove the need for the Electoral Commission to compile a new voter’s register for the next presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana.
Discussing on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ political discussion programme, a proposal from the EC boss during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held yesterday that the Commission will compile a new voter’s register ahead of the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, Kwaku Boahen angrily noted that “why is the EC boss in haste to do things on her own without stakeholders submission”.
According to him, the NDC is ever ready to deal with the EC boss if she refuses to work within the laws binding her position.
