The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the week has been engaged in a tussle with the Electoral Commission over an item raised in a communique issued by the latter.
The Commission in the communique indicated IPAC has concluded on a new voters' register after 'an exhaustive deliberation'.
However, the NDC condemned the EC for misleading the public because according to them, the issue of a new voters' register was not extensively discussed. Their position was backed by other parties who attended the meeting.
This subsequently led to a banter between Dr Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairman of the EC and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Director of Elections for the NDC. click to read
Speaking further on this issue, on Joy Newsfile programme, Saturday, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said even though the issue of a new voters' register is a subject for all to discuss, there's actually no need for a new one.
"It is a subject for all of us to discuss but in my opinion, there is no such need for a new voters’ register. Why do we require a new register . . . our practice has been that we replace the new register every decade," he indicated.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS ASEIDU NKETIA AND HIS NDC, WHY THEY ARE SO SCARE OF THE VOTING REGISTER WILL BE CHANGED, WHAT IS, YOU NDC'S PROBLEM, BECAUSE NDC'S KNEW THEIR ARE LOTS OF FOREIGNERS IN THE REGISTER, THAT WILL VOTE FOR THEM. THAT WHY YOU DONT WANT THE REGISTER TO BE CHANGE. EC DO YOUR JOB, DON'T LISTEN TO THESE IN COMPETENT NDC AND THEIR RU-BB-ISH NONSIS ATTITUDES. IS ASIEDU NKETIA AFTER A GHANAIAN, IF YOU ARE, HOW CAN YOUR BLOOD BROTHER IS A MINISTER IN IVORY COAST, ASIEDU COME AND EXPLAIN TO GHANAIANS AND STOP DISTURBING OUR EARS.WHAT EVER YOU DO THE REGISTER WILL BE CHANGE.
ghana people need a new id card not a foooo..ool like asedu nketia a vote rigger, shame to asedu nketia useleesssss man, gh a pp
SO FROM HANSARD OF IPAC MEETING NEW VOTERS REGISTER WAS MENTIONED BY EC. AT LEAST, ONE PERSON ASKED A QUESTION ABOUT IT FOR EC TO CLARIFIED. IF NO OBJECTION WAS RAISED WHERE COMES THE CLAIM THAT IT WAS NOT DISCUSSED AT THE MEETING. DO WE NEED TO ARGUE ABOUT EVERY ITEM AT MEETING TO BECOME ACCEPTED WHEN THE MATTER IS OBVIOUS AND CLEAR. WHY WASTE TIME ON ISSUES WHICH REQUIRE NO DEBATE? TIME IS MONEY AND WE MUST LEARN TO CHERISH IT AT MEETINGS. SHAME TO ELVIS AFRIYIE ANKRAH FOR THE MISINFORMATION TO HIS PARTY AND GHANAIANS.
SO NOW WE KNOW THAT THE IDEA BEHIND THE CLAIM THAT THE EC DID NOT MENTION ABOUT THE NEW VOTERS REGISTER IPAC IS BECAUSE THE NDC DID NOT LIKE IT. IF EC COULD BE SUPPORTED TO CHANGE ITS LOGO WITH HIGH COST WITHOUT ENHANCING ELECTIONS WHY EC SHOULD BOT BE SUPPORTED TO MAKE NEW REGISTER THAT ENHANCES ELECTIONS. NDC HAS NEVER WISH FOR ELECTIONS TO BE FREE AND FAIR. THEY GO TO ANY ELECTION WITH THE HOPE TO RIG AND INTIMIDATE AT ELECTIONS. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN THIS TIME.
NDC DONT NEED IT, BUT GHANAIANS NEED IT LET GEN. MOSQUITO BE TOLD.
Who are the “we” mosquito?

The electoral commission is not there for the ndc, they are not paid by the ndc they are working according to what the constitution says not what Asiedu Nketiah and his ndc will say. They can just shu*t up and opt out and see if the elections won't go on it will go on peacefully without thd ndc. They can go to hell!new voters register all the WAY!! We the Ghanaian people are happy for the new voters register no turning back ! if ndc has a case they should proceed to court or get out ! we can't take their nons*ense and negative attitude anymore, our country must move forward without ndc !
