Former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry in the erstwhile Mahama Administration, Murtala Mohammed says the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is never pleased with the depreciation of the Cedi as being preposterously churned out in public.

Inasmuch as members of the NDC are Ghanaians who also suffer from the depreciation of the Cedi, the former Nantong lawmaker professed that "the only solace or joy that the NDC may take from this will be the exposure of the incompetence and the ingratitude of this government and the fact that they blamed the challenges that the Cedi was going through on so-called incompetence of the NDC and for me, God being so good, exposed them the more".

Contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold's 'Alhaji and Alhaji' talk show, Murtala Mohammed patted the back of the NDC Minority in Parliament for indicating their preparedness and willingness to participate in the by-partisan discussion on the economic restructuring proposed by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

"I am happy that I heard the former Deputy Minister for Finance and the Ranking Member of the Finance Committee in Parliament, Ato Forson who had indicated the preparedness and willingness of the NDC as a Minority to participate in that," he stated.

He reiterated that the NDC has shown class agreeing to participate in the by-partisan discussion on the economy; thus, it shows clearly the difference between the NDC and the NPP, as the latter on similar conference refused to help find solution to the entire gamut of the economy under former President John Dramani Mahama.

"The difference between the NDC and the NPP is that, whereas we can help it, they cannot. There was a similar conference that was being held; it was not just about the depreciation of the Cedi, it was about entire gamut of our economic structure and political parties were invited, civil societies, but the NPP refused to participate in it and so we must show a class," he averred.

According to him, the request of the Finance Minister is a clear indication that the ship of the economy as well as the social fabric of this country, the security and the entire governance structure are going into pieces.

"There is no denying the fact that the ship is going through pieces in this country; the ship of not just the economy but the ship of the social fabric of this country, the security, the entirety of our governance structure is going to pieces; no plan, no method, no vision and there is sharp difference between propaganda and actuals, there is a sharp difference between wanting to be elected to rule a country and the opportunity to rule a country, and for me, that is what is glaring to the people of this country today," he posited.
