We Have Completed Over 79 Factories – 1D1F Coordinator

Coordinator for 'one -district one-factory' programme, Gifty Ohene Konadu has disclosed that they have completed over 79 factories under the 'one district one factory' programme of the NPP government.

She says there are more at various completion stages.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, she explained that those factories have been completed and have provided jobs for most unemployed Ghanaians in the country.

She said it is very unfortunate that some people who have no idea about how they operate will seek to be doing politics with it and claim that the government has failed.

"The NPP government is committed to the work we are doing under the one-district one-factory programme, so it will be out of place for the opposition to claim that nothing has been done under the one district one factory programme. More factories will be inaugurated soon," she added.

In its 2016 manifesto, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) promised to establish a factory in each of the 216 districts to transform Ghana’s economic fortunes, while creating employment for the youth.

The ‘One-District-One-Factory’ programme is aimed at establishing, at least, one factory or enterprise in each of the 216 districts of Ghana as a means of creating economic growth poles that would accelerate the development of those areas and create jobs for the teeming youth.

Government  released GH¢465 million for the commencement of the one-district-one-factory project.

And making good his pledge, the President also cut the sod for the construction of the Ekumfi Fruits and Juices Company Limited, the first factory to be established under the 'One-District, One-Factory' initiative.

The initiative, otherwise known as district enterprises, is to establish medium-to-large-scale factories or industrial enterprises that have the potential to fundamentally affect the economy of the districts.
