Kwesi Pratt Jnr has bemoaned the attitude of government spokespersons who speak on every issue that comes up even if they are not supposed to interfere.
The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper does not understand why some government Communicators are speaking to the closure of two radio stations in Accra; adding, when this is done, it gives the impression, they are guilty.
“Why don’t you allow them defend themselves; this is NCA but if you take on the case it is as if you are complicit or have something to do with the closure. Meanwhile, the NCA has a communication department and they can speak for themselves,” he stated while speaking in a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Tuesday.
Kwesi Pratt was reacting to the recent close down of two pro-NDC radio stations; Radio Gold and Radio XYZ by the National Communication Authority (NCA).
According to the National Communications Authority (NCA), the two stations were shut down because they failed to comply with the ruling of the Electronic Communications Tribunal (ECT). Click to read.

radio xyz is on air today
You see how you've exposed yourself, Mr. Pratt? Are you a member of the NDC or a Manager at Radio Gold or Radio XYZ? Yet you speak passionately for these organisations everyday. You have been a spokesperson for the NDC for years, at the expense of the CPP you claim to belong to. As for Radio Gold, that is where you throw your bombshell and tantrums at NPP governmnents, be it Kufuor's or Nana Addo's. You have no right to stop anybody from commenting on NCA vrs Radio Gold/Radio XYZ matter because you mostly stand accused on that score
Of course Uncle Kwesi Pratt, if the government is accused of masterminding the closure of these radio stations, you will expect responses from its communicators. I would rather you encourage those radio stations, RADIO GOLD and XYZ especially, to pay for their authorisation and stop inciting the public against government. This issue started way back in 2017. So if they actually wanted to obey the laws of Ghana, they would pay up before now. They refused to regularise their operations, knowing very well that people like you will defend them. Radio Gold for one, I learnt, has been defiant to NCA since its inception in the 1990s. We are in a country where the rule of law must be adhered to, failure which necessary sanctions should be applied. And those radio stations are no exception. I don't understand why GJA and co will always jump to the defence of erring media houses when they are supposed to be urging them to do the right thing.
Mr Pratt should also allow the NDC communicators to speak for their party NDC so that he does it for the CPP. H's taken over the NDC communication job for far too long.
Mr "sensible" Pratt, kindly also allow radio gold and radio xyz to speak for themselves. They also have corporate managers.....smh
In fact Ghana is a sick country. We are the same people who want state institutions to work and when they are working too we complain. So what do we want? An institution that knew it has to pay and renew its license and fails to do so not even one year but for over 10 years and you are saying what? You are very people saying the government cannot fight corruption. Radio Gold and XYZ and others are known for accusing the president of not fighting corruption but they have failed woefully in the corruption test themselves. Just calculate the amount of money the state has lost for the past 10 years even renewal fee is say 500GHC. Please you people should give us a break and must note that freedom is not absolute but comes with a responsibility. Why is it that Peace FM, Joy FM, Citi FM, Adom FM and many others are still operating. All of us must do the right thing so that this nation can become the country we all desire. But this hypocrisy cannot lead us anywhere
LOOK at who is speaking, when C. Osei EC issue come up who defennt her not NDC KWASI think before you talk. I rest my case.
