The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Electoral Commission of unfair tactics in the limited registration exercise which is set to begin June 7.
According to the opposition party, they have not concluded discussions at IPAC meetings with the EC on the limited registration exercise, so they are surprised the electoral body has decided to carry out the registration exercise.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia explained that the Electoral Commission has taken the law into their own hands and are doing things their way.
"....i fear some people may take the electoral processes to court to challenge the actions of the Electoral Commission....
"....if Ghanaians do not rise up against the EC’s behavior, the country may be thrown into a state of anarchy ahead of the 2020 elections," he added.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it will compromise and conduct the limited voter registration exercise in selected difficult areas in addition to its district offices.
The exercise, which is to take place between Friday, June 7 and Thursday, June 27 2019, was initially planned to happen only at the district offices of the Electoral Commission.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) resisted the initial plan going as far as accusing the EC of scheming to disenfranchise voters.
The NDC wanted the EC to decentralize the exercise up to the electoral area levels instead of just the 260 districts offices.

Asiedu, get it that IPAC is not EC.
NDC is refusing to learn from their lesson, with this attitude they will remain in opposition forever, they don't have any message and policies as the biggest opposition party,
If the EC doesn't go by NDC's proposal then it means victimisation? Is IPAC made up of only NDC? People, you see where the Shatta Waleys and the Stoneboys are taking their inspirations from?
Please give a break. Too much noise from the NDC camp. Or is it part of their grand diabolical scheme to discredit the 2020 elections in advance? Assuming Ghanaians need them in 2020 what is their campaign message?
The courts doors are not closed, you better go there, ELDER ofosu ampofo's plan at work at all centers, kidnapping, false news, demo, etc. What is your message for 2020 elections, remember in 2015 Nana Akuffo Addo was outlining his vision for 2016 election, free SHS, restoration of Nurses/ Teachers allowances, one district one factory, RTI Bill, creation of new regions, on and on, etc... ndc what are messages for 2020? Only thinking of violence and killing people.
NDC only thinks about elections, not how to rule or give alternative suggestions. That's why OPANA is yet to bring out any policy statement.
Masa masa why are u so obsessed with elections? Get a life So can’t u find work to do other than your party being and living on the largesse of the state? How will limited registration disenfranchise people if u are serious and want to vote Potential voters are not kids they know what to don’t think for them and in any case how does that affect only the NDC Nsemfo kwa
No doubt, the NDC is implementing Elder Ofosu Ampofo strategy. The way executives including John Mahama himself are attacking the EC Chairman . The government should take matter serious and allow the law to deal with elderl Ofosu Ampofo
ediot victimization of who? you cant carry you load you are blaming it on your load carriage pad, fuuuuuls you have loss the elections in advance so don't blame anyone
