Lead investigator for the Multimedia Group, Manasseh Azure Awuni, has come under barrage of attacks following the National Media Commission’s ruling that the D-Eye Groupa can’t be classified a militia group.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has waded into the matter following the ruling by the NMC and stated that the deliberate attempt by Manasseh Azure, to disgrace the current government with his documentary has failed to match the hype he placed on it.
According to Mr. Anwti-Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi, the Joy FM reporter has brought disgrace to him and brought his own reputation into disrepute following the shoddy investigation he conducted.
“It was as if Manasseh Azure had something against the Akufo-Addo led government. He took things into his own hands and failed to do a diligent work. If he was ethical, he wouldn’t find himself in the shameful situation he is currently in. He has disgraced himself and no one would take him serous again. He can’t be trusted and that is a big blow to him as a journalist who was once respected”, Chairman Wontumi said.
The NMC in its ruling on the case between the Government of Ghana and the Multimedia Group clarified that D-Eye Group per the facts provided posed no security threat and had no characteristics of any known militia.
Multimedia claimed they relied on the word militia as used by respected legal luminary, Professor Henrietta Mensah-Bonsu, a member of the Commission that investigated the Ayawaso West Wuogon violence which occurred during the by-election after the death of the sitting MP, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko.
Despite conceding that it was inappropriate for the company to operate from the former seat of government and admitting that the expose was in the public’s interest, the NMC found that Multimedia Group failed to abide by the ethics of journalism with regards to their representation and description of the group.
The NMC stressed in its ruling that, “whereas it finds the presence in the Castle of D-Eye Group problematic and unacceptable, the group did not manifest any violent conduct to be described as a militia or a vigilante group from the documentary as people of Ghana have come to identify such groups.”
However, Manasseh Azure Awuni, says there is everything wrong with the NMC’s report about his documentary.
According to him, he never expected anything less from the government agency, National Media Commission(NMC).

Why won't DISGRACED Manasseh say what he is saying. Lost his credibility with this FAKE story and reactions after!
Much as you can write to air your opinion on this issue, let us stick the facts on the ground. Is it true that Manasseh inserted footage from BBC and Nigeria to create a false impression that those pictures emanated from the activities of the DE EYE GROUP? Tell me how the Ayawaso violence relates to this. Did Manasseh know that the CASTLE is no more under the presidency and that is now under the Museum and Monument Board?...and that it is now a no security zone?
STOMACH JOURNALISM. LAZY MANESSAH AZURE CHEAP JOUNALISM One day you will apologize to Ghanaians
Oops. Sometimes I wonder what goes on in the head of people. NMC chairman has a political leaning and he has not failed to hide it. At least, he is honest in that regard. He sat as the judge over this case. He complained about sensationalism. If this is all that there is to it, then the credibility of the story is unquestionable. Anyway, let NMC tell daily guide and statesman that they are sensational with their reportage. Have they ever listened to Oman FM? The worse story of Joy FM is better than the best story on Oman FM. Anyway, Manasseh you can criticize President Mahama and go home and sleep without any hindrance, but not Nana Addo. This is the difference. You have money so had to flee to South Africa, what about your colleagues who would not be able to afford? Who read the story for Wontumi to understand? Maybe he is under the influence of Alcohol as he made us understand.
Manasseh is wrong, period. He spew falsehold and threw ethics in Journalism under the bus. His true colours is now clear to everybody. He has lost the respect of Ghanaians who want ills in the society and those in government to be exposed. He is not finished but must redeem himself and stop depending his unethical behaviour.
Manaseh, just eat humble pie and go on.It looks like you are too full of yourself. You have been proved wrong accept it, you are human and you will make mistakes wai.
Sincerely, Sincerely, Sincerely, the BIGGEST disgrace goes to the NMC which has become a political tool under Nana's regime. The so called verdict from the NMC is one of the many political manipulations under this government! God, please save Mother Ghana!!!
Manasseh .Please bow down your head pray , lift up your head and apologies. You are a brilliant journalist but you have totally gone off track. Do you think if the Osu Castle is still a Security Zone as you are making the whole world to believe, you could be allowed to be taking pictures and videos as you did? YOU GOT IT ALL WRONG.
It's clearly shown that Manasseh Azure is one of the causes of instabilities we have in Ghanaian politics. He said all manner of ill things against the NDC and Mahama and he has turned now to the NPP and Nana to appear that he's a neutral person but it's not. What does he want at all? My respect for him is waned drastically. Ghana must go forward anyway but truth always stands.
