Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a now Social Commentator, Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has bemoaned the infiltration of political party loyalists in our security apparatus.
He was reacting to various criticisms hurled at the Ghana Police Service following the kidnapping of the three Takoradi girls and the alleged increase in insecurity in the country.
In addition to this, Allotey Jacobs feels the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has tarnished the image of the Ghana Police Services.
He believes some of their comments and actions, does not speak well of the Service.
The police should not be surprised at the criticisms coming their way. These criticisms should even encourage them to rebrand or improve. The police need to protect their integrity. There are too many party loyalists in our security services; that is what the service has become and the CID has worsened the image of Ghana Police.
The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Dankwa made a swift u-turn after she indicated that her outfit knows the whereabouts of the missing girls.
Calls for her resignation has in recent times increased especially as there has been a discovery of some skeletons suspected to be the missing girls.
Some are of the view that if indeed it is confirmed that the skeletons are that of the missing girls, Madam Tiwaa and others who suggested that the girls are alive should vacate their post willingly.

In Ghana or Africa in general, public officials refused to step down when they fail in uttering their services. If the remains found are confirm to be that of the three girls, the CID boss and some of the security CAPO's must step down from their positions. In Ghana, they would be promoted instead.
Please be factual when addressing issues of ethnicity in the security services. Rawlings never did that. It started from President Kuffour time when he started with the Kuffour police. Its now worse during this era and must be looked into property. It will spoil the services and professionalism will be thrown to the dogs
THE POLITICIZATION OF OUR SECURITY SERVICES HAS ITS DISTURBING FOUNDATION FIRMLY PLANTED BY THE FOUNDER OF YOUR PARTY JJ RAWLINGS IN HIS DESIRE TO RULE FOR LIFE. RAWLINGS DIDN'T ONLY POLITICIZE BUT WENT TO THE EXTENT OF ETHNIC / TRIBAL STOCK PILING. AS I'M WRITING OUR SECUIRTY AGENCIES LIKE THE ARMY, POLICE AND BORDER PATROL HAVE DISPROPORTIONATE NUMBER OF ONE ETHNIC TRIBE WHO ACCORDING TO STATISTICS ACCOUNT FOR LESS THAN 10 PERCENT OF OUR TOTAL POPULATION. FOR EXAMPLE, AKANS WHO CONSTITUTE THE MAJORITY ARE NOT FAIRLY REPRESENTED IN THE SECURITY SERVICES AND THAT SHOULD BE A REAL CAUSE FOR CONCERN TO THOSE WHO ARE FAIR-MINDED. MR ALLOTEY, PLEASE BE BOLD AND CALL A SPADE BY GIVING THESE STARTLING AND SHOCKING INFORMATION TO BACK YOUR BOLD AND FACTUAL CLAIM. GHANA, WE HAVE A PROBLEM!
