A Communication Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Eric Adjei has blamed the crisis in the banking sector on the founder and head Pastor of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr Mensa Otabil and other renowned personalities in the country.
According to him, 'big men' like Mensa Otabil and Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom "are the cause of the mess (in the banking sector) in the country"
Eric Adjei, who was reacting to the recent shutdown of 23 savings and loans companies by the Bank of Ghana (BoG), also questioned the decision by the Central Bank to revoke the operational licences of the affected financial institutions.
"...we had people in this country who said they don’t have economic ideas but they could manage banks where are those people now? Mensa Otabil; he said he could manage banks even though he was not an economist. We had people like that in this country and they are the cause of this mess in the country. Dr Nduom…all these people were talking a whole lot. What saddens my heart is that there are so many ways of killing a cat but is the only remedy the revocation of licenses?" he quizzed.
He was speaking on the 'Platform' program hosted by Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM, Monday.
