The chances of actor, John Dumelo winning the 2020 general election are bleak, given the demographics of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has said.
Mr Allotey Jacobs has observed that in spite of Mr Dumelo’s charisma, he must work extra hard to garner enough votes, especially at the University of Ghana. Mr Dumelo was elected as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency with 758 votes and is hoping to win the seat currently occupied by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the past years.
With his stardom and youthful exuberance, the actor is convinced he will win the hearts of constituents majority of whom are the youth.
But, Allotey Jacobs on Adom FM Tuesday thought otherwise.
He explained that students on the university campus are heavily influenced by the opinions of their lecturers.
“The NDC’s problem is the Legon campus; the lecturers influence the voting pattern of students so John has a lot of work to do,” Mr Jacobs noted.
The former NDC Central regional chairman said though Mr Dumelo is a “magnet and can pull people along” he needs to work extra hard to win the seat in the 2020 general election.
This notwithstanding, Mr Jacobs, commended the actor for his bravery and urged him to put in more efforts to win the seat for the NDC.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs is doing serious analysis. In addition to his submission about Legon campus, let us look at the whole constituency. Has NDC ever won that seat? I think it is an NDC stronghold and Mr. Domelo should do extra work. It is not 50 - 50. The odds are against him. 70 - 30 for NPP. However, who knows? He can be a game changer. Good luck.
@ Abam jnr, I don't agree with you that parliament is for serious business and not for comedy in reference to Johm Dumelo's...... do you want to suggest that doctors, lawyers, educationist, bankers. farmers, etc, etc are there to diagnose illness, represent law defaulters, teach, cultivate cassava there ?????
John can't win. He can only improve the votes of the ndc by.05 margin. Dumelo go to your home town just like Abrokwa if you are eager to enter Parliament. I wonder whatever you are going to do there anyway. Serious business takes place there Not comedy take note.
John has the more chance to win than any candidate who will come out of NDC at that level, when u making a point,be sensible enough to explain for better understanding n reasoning not just bcos am part A or B. John already has his phone whether party A or B,also more of floating voters will go to Him,you as NPP,the only thing we can do and she should do with her team is to work extra hard as well,John is not an ordinary candidate and in Ghana as a whole he has super hand. God bless Us All ,God Bless Ghana.
Controller staff what do you mean by scandals? come out ndc and bring figures of your so Caledonia scandals! empty talks can't win you elections you did the same thing in 2008 without figures and you sent about 15 cases to the court which were all thrown out you couldn't even jail a soul and you think Ghanaians are ***barred word*** to vote for your lies? tell them what npp has done because npp is ready to go with you in figures. Isofoton, Africa automobile, Gyeeda ,sada, suba we have the amount of money ndc took, every thi*eving in the ndc has figures attached so ndc bring your figures don't just talk into thin air for Ghanaians are very discerning and will vote massively against ndc and john mahama the greedy man whose family collapsed UT Bank, Capital Bank , Merchant Bank and others !We are very ready for you ndc !2020 it will be easier for a camel to enter the eye of a needle than ndc coming back to power!

Allotey did you think about the stolen vehicles?
Allottey Jacobs, do you mean the students can't think for themselves? Going by your premises then everyone would conclude that John would win considering the many scandals that has hit this government.
