The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has denied claims that he was shielding corrupt officials within his government.
He categorically denied the claims that he was shielding corrupt officials in his administration whilst addressing the 2019 annual general conference of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) in Takoradi on Monday.
He stated that it was not his job to clear or convict appointees of corruption charges.
He said anyone with any corruption or corruption-related charges or accusations would be subjected to due process for them to clear themselves or otherwise.
President Akufo-Addo urged members of the Bar to make patriotism the backbone of Ghana’s development, cementing the values of Ghana.
He said: "Patriotism is vital for preserving national unity and state security. It is vital for social and economic development. It is vital for individual fulfillment and self-realisation."
The theme for this year's GBA annual general conference is "Enhancing National Security through the Rule of Law; Prospects and Challenges."
