Osei Bonsu Amoah has asked the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to go to court if they are not satisfied with how President Akufo-Addo is dealing with alleged corrupt cases in the country.
"Akufo Addo has put a lot of measures in place to indicate his willingness to fight corruption and so anyone who will continue to accuse him or tag him as a clearing agent is just being mischievous. In any way, it’s a free country if you are not happy, you can go to court; why don’t you go to court” he queried while contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’
OB Amoah who is the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development was reacting to comments made by the President while addressing the 2019 Conference of the Ghana Bar Association, in Takoradi, in the Western Region.
The President who has been tagged as a ‘clearing agent’ by the NDC at the conference said it was not his job to clear or convict appointees of corruption charges and that anyone with any corruption or corruption-related charges or accusations would be subjected to due process for them to clear themselves or otherwise.
"It is not my job to clear or convict any person accused of wrongdoing, or of engaging in acts of corruption...it cannot be the case that people are condemned on the basis of mere allegations. That is the law of the jungle” he indicated.
