General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God church Rev. Dr. Frimpong Manso has called for cessation of discussions on the controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education.
He says once the President has spoken on the subject, the hue and cry about the issue must be put on hold for now.
President's Position
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, over the weekend, debunked suggestions that his government is bent on introducing ‘alien’ practices into the Ghanaian society through the controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education.
The President was emphatic that no student in Ghana will be taught contents that are inappropriate in the Ghanaian context while he is Head of State.
Addressing the congregation at the St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Kumasi on Sunday, President Akufo-Addo clarified the government’s position insisting that his aim for introducing Free Senior High School is to widen access to and provide quality education but not to teach Ghanaian children concepts that are unacceptable in the country.
Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia program, he explained that he was part of the clergy the President met and is convinced that the President will not entertain the inclusion of the CSE in the country’s education curriculum.
"I believe that the President has heard the clarion call of the masses and I believe that the President will stick to his words and will not entertain the introduction of comprehensive sexual education.
The Assemblies of God Church Ghana still stands by its position that we will not entertain the introduction of the CSE in our schools in whatever form," he added.
Background
Sharp divisions have greeted the guidelines on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) for schools, with the educational authorities parrying the criticisms, saying the new policy holds the key to effective sexuality education for the youth.
Opposition to the policy hit a crescendo on Monday, September 30, with faith-based institutions and the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights leading the charge against the reforms.
Some members of the public also took to social media to demand an immediate halt to the policy to save children from moral degeneration.
But with the president having spoken publicly on the controversial CSE guidelines, it remains to be seen if the dust will finally settle on the matter.

Unnecessary criticism and noise. NDC has no vision for this country except empty rhetoric s. Should this whole thing occupy the country's attention for more than two weeks. Its only ndc who are aimless. Next time Dr Frimpong Manso should not behave as if he speaking on NDC platform. You don't have control over the so called 8 million members you alluded to. You can't decide for me who to vote for. Can CSE alone decide my voting decision. Next time never rush to the press with such unchristian comments.
I WONDER WHY PEOPLE ARE GETTING HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE OVER THIS ISSUE. YOU MAY GO ON DISCUSS IT EVEN WHEN YOU SAY THE LORDS PRAYER...EVEN WHEN YOU MADE LOVE TO YOUR PARTNERS...EVEN WHEN YOU $$HIT! WHO THE 4K CARES!HATERS OF THE PRESIDENT WILL GROW LEAN LIKE BOLGA KRAMAN! BORROWING THE WORDS FROM SNR EDDIE DONKOR'S SONG OF 1976-"NO JEALOU".
No one should ever stop discussing this CSE until they are out of power 2020, else they will implement it, who knows if they win power again.
No Right Rev, we still have to speak. We respectfully ask whether the Policy has been withdrawn or not . If not then the Prez has done his part for the LGBTQ people -that is to make sure it is in the Curriculum and syllabus. Later , They will lobby another person to implement it for them . So please follow up and see to it that it is taken out of the Curriculum completely. Because i am not satisfied that it was in a PRO LGBTQ CHURCH - ANGLICAN THAT the President spoke to the nation about CSE. Anglicans who have GAY priests . Please let us fight to the end and stop trusting a human being.
WHY? WHY SHOULD GHANAIANS CESASE DISCUSSIONS ON THE CSE SAGA? ARE YOU THE ONLY GHANAIAN? WHO APPOINTED YOU THE SPOKESMAN FOR GHANAIANS? NOT EVEN THE CHIEF SPOKESMAN, PRESIDENT AKUFFO ADDO, WHO WAS ELECTED BY UNIVERSAL ADULT SUFFERAGE, CAN ASK GHANAIANS TO CEASE DISCUSSIONS ON THE CSE. SO JUST SHUT YOUR BEAK!
Our biggest problem in this country is the barrage of irresponsible, reckless, good for nothing reverends, chiefs, bias media, devilish politicians and to cap it all; a lying and dishonest president!!! There is no credibility in this administration; Nana Addo, Bawumia, CJ, Napo, Ken Offori Atta, Police. From the Financial, Education and Energy sectors, Security to Sports...everything is in a BEATIFUL MESS!!!!!
Do u believe president? He says one thing and does the opposite o.
WE SHALL STOP COMMENTING ON THE CSE MATTER ONLY OF THE PRESIDENT COME TO APOLOGIZE TO GHANAINS AND SAYING HE WAS SORRY FOR DREAMING OF A POLICY LIKE THAT. THE PRESIDENT SAYS HE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT IT AND THIS IS BAD LIES HE PEDDLE. WE NOT NOT SMALL BOYS IN THIS COUNTRY
