The Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr has backed the New Patriotic Party's claim that it is not training thugs.
Even though he says it is 'factual' that there is a National Security training at Asutuare, he adds that it will be misleading and deceitful to allege that it is being done to create chaos during the 2020 election.
"To say that Akufo-Addo's administration as we speak is training party thugs at Asutuare to disrupt election 2020, I say it's a lie; so I am actually refuting the distortion. But I am not denying that National Security operatives are off and on trained at Asutuare; I cannot deny that because I know it for a fact," he indicated on Wednesday's edition of Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo'.
According to him, "I also have pictures of people who were being trained during the Mahama administration at the same place. I know them by name; some of them were dismissed when Akufo-Addo came into office. Those who were being trained where national security operatives. It’s the same exercise going on".
However, "that is not a denial of the fact that some of them could be party sympathizers, activists and members. Those who are being trained; the pictures date June 2019; the pictures you people (NDC) are showing around. But they are deployed from various public institutions . . . some of them are party people; it’s a fact."
Background
The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it has evidence that the NPP is training thugs at Asutuare to cause mayhem during the 2020 election.
Flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama made the initial allegation saying: "we remember what happened in Ayawaso West Wuogon. I pray that God forbid, nothing like that ever happens again. But you know the issue of vigilantes, especially one party is training vigilantes. I remember at the time of Ayawaso West Wuogon, there was a letter that came out asking party executives to bring able-bodied people to be trained as security. Since then, we have evidence that those people have been to Asutuare and trained in batches over and over again in all kinds of combat techniques and other things. It’s is a worry that Ayawaso West Wuogon will be repeated on a larger scale than it did”

Kukurukuru no gyae keka keka nso begyae…..meaning if ndc do not bring Azorka boys from Tamale and Hawks no one will be harmed....Let us all take note..after all it was JDM who said NDC background is coup and they are good at unleashing mayhem better than NPP, so what is he afraid of. cheap politician.....
Kwaku Baako. Hmmm. The slush funds have turned the mans head. He is not thinking straight. He made a lot of money from Kuffour and now maximising his earning potential. This man has not got a job. This journalist claim is just a charade. He is just blackmailing governments for his stomach. To pay for child birth as a foreigner in America is not cheap.
Once the fact is there that they are training people there is a fact. NPP are training their criminals to disturb our peace come 2020
This man is the biggest nation wrecker Ghana has ever had. It looks as if nana addo has given him a special portfolio and is paid for to always come and speak against anything coming from the NDC. I am not too old, but at my age I have never heard him say one thing good about the NDC.
eday pain you?
Listen ndc there is nothing you can do, if the good people of Ghana needed your service to take care of their safety ndc would have been in office by now. The good people overwhelmingly voted for the npp to take care if their resources, education, health and security and what's your problem? your flagbearer behave like an SRC presidential candidate he behave like he's never been to the presidency before his utterances and demeanor shows he never learnt anything from Prof. Mills hence his failure. A supposed so called once upon a time cm manservant in chief doesn't even know that place is for security training and who told ndc NPP are not Ghanaians so have no right to join any institution in Ghana? npp are patriotic sins and daughters of Ghana and have every right to enjoy whatever is in Ghana so what is it if they are in the national security? what's your problem? the npp government has to protect the good people of Ghana from ndc aggression and if that us your problem you can go to hell! who cares about you? but you play the foo*00l in Ghana and you will regret ! Tell hour mahama politics is about policies not violence and propaganda so he should bring his programs and policies, his visions and interventions but if he is drunk then he should sh*t the fu-ck up and sleep and leave Ghana alone ,he was a mistake that Prof. Mills chose and should give us a break! !!!!the presidency is not for job training for him to come back and correct his mistakes did he even think of what he said to correct his mistakes? ndc your john mahama is not serious it's about time you find a kritical thinker to meet Dr Alhaji Bawumiah!
AS FAR AS ITS BEEN DONE TO BENEFIT THE SECURITY OF THE NATION LET IT ROLL.
I hope the peace council, the council of bishops, the Muslim, Christian and other religious leaders are not waiting for things to explode before they begin to act. If you deliver development to Ghanaians, there will be no need to train thugs. The same people who are legislating the end of vigilantism are now looking for other forms. National peace architecture should not that peacebuilding is better than fire fighting. Asemsebe
It means it's nothing new or strange. You do something and later you see someone doing a similar thing then you cry fowl. What was your motive in doing that thing - good motive, for national security? So why cry if a new govt is also continuing the same exercise? Unless your motive was evil, then you know your successor's motive too, evil.
Is this man still relevant in the scheme of things in Ghana? I wonder.
