The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Asiedu Nketia, has reiterated the umbrella family’s position of strengthening the fee-free Senior High School Education policy being implemented by the governing New Patriotic Party under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to him, the NDC government under John Dramani Mahama will bring an end to the Double-Track system which has seen students attend classes in Green and Gold Tracks within 90 days if given the mandate to govern the country again.
The Akatamansonians, he added, have no intention of abrogating the fee-free Senior High School policy as being speculated by their political opponents in government and some media houses.
“We were building more E-Block Schools and as we continue to commission them, all the students that enroll in those facilities were enjoying free education. As at the time we were leaving office, we had awarded 123 E-Block Schools under contract and we had completed 50 of them. So the remaining 73 were at various stages of completion. So, the 200 that we promised to build, we completed 50 and as we speak today, those facilities are operational and the remaining 73 are at various stages of completion. Most of them were even above 70% completion. So, if Mahama [flagbearer of the NDC] says that if he comes back to power within 90 days he will review the Free SHS policy to bring an end to the double-track system, it is doable and very easy. It is easy for NDC to complete the next batch of schools like 100 to complement the existing schools and there will be no need for that multiple track. We will not go and look for land to build new schools. We will complete existing ones”, he noted.
The NDC Chief Scribe known in the political circles as ‘General Mosquito’ made this observation when interacting with Kasapa FM, Wednesday.
Mr. Nketia was rebutting some media reports that had quoted John Dramani Mahama as having said that he would review and cancel the fee-free SHS policy when the NDC wins the 2020 general elections.
He said the implementation of the Free SHS policy with its attendant challenges which ushered in the Double-Track system has brought so much burden on parents some of whom he added, had to rent rooms for their children in nearby communities where their wards were placed at very exorbitant rates.
He believes that the governing NPP did not think through the Free SHS policy very well before implementing, stressing that if the government meant well, it would have completed all the E-Block Schools initiated by the John Dramani Mahama administration to get enough space to accommodate all the students.
“The NDC upon assuming power in 2009, the Kufuor-led administration had earlier announced that Senior High School was going to be four years and not three years. And so after assuming office, we knew that by September of that year when all the schools had re-opened and all those students were going to stay for one more year, we asked ourselves that how are we going to accommodate the new students coming from the Junior High Schools? We were faced with this problem and then we declared a program that we have to provide extra classrooms in all the secondary schools to accommodate the first year students. The numbers involved at that time was far higher than the existing students but we managed it. Did you hear that we faced any challenge?” he quizzed.
He added “So the NPP is now faced with poor planning and they should admit it. If somebody has come up to say that let me ascend the seat of government and manage it well for we’ve done it before and you are there making noise, is it right? All that the NDC is doing is to achieve the best for the country and not mere political points as being assumed by the NPP”.

This man again. You couldn't build 200 schools in 6 years, yet you claim you can end double tracknin 90 days. Who will believe your lies?
BUT WHO SAYS NDC WOULD ASSUME POWER? IF THE NDC COME TO POWER AGAIN THEN GHANAIANS WOULD BE THE MOST STUUUUUPID PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.AFTER 27 YEARS OF NDC'S RULE,WHAT SOCIAL INTERVENTION DID THEY INTRODUCE TO HELP THE MASSES 'AIRPORT'? EXCEPT STEALLLING. LOOT AND SHARE. WHAT COST 5 MILLION TO CONSTRUCT, THE NDC WILL CHARGE THE TAX PAYER 50 MILLION. THIEVESSSS.
how can you improve something you do not believe in? you indicated that this was not possible, just think about it. we need to be serious about this country.
Look at his face*less i**D'1-0^t in Military attire? And he is happy to be robed in borrowed cloths? If he knew anything better about running a school, he wouldn't send his children to Canada to be schooled.
How do use 90 days to complete E-blocks? Such pronouncement will not wash to attract votes . Character like Asiedu Nketial as a seasonal politician should not make such KG statement for Ghanaian's to believe .very shallow mind. Master come again, we are above this loose talks
WHERE IS YOUR ONE TERM PREMIUM. I PITY GHANAIANS WHO STILL FOLLOW YOU.
In their dreams of 40 years when they come back! who in his right frame of mind will vote for the ndc? so ndc has no different thing t offer than talking and dreaming about the free SHS? ndc E Blocks that school children have refused are they the ones this mosquito is talking about? eeeiii in fact opposition is a real hell to thd ndc and they will stay day for over 40 years! Did he hear the students say Free SHS has come to stay? so who introduced it and why would anyone make a mistake to vote for those against it? ndc are jokers ! if I were you I wouldn't even talk about it but rather bring my a policy which is different to counter the npp policies but here they are always on radio talking about npp policies like they've lost their brains to think kritically! is this how to manage a political party for people to take you serious? Asiedu Nketiah Ghanaians are not listening to you because ndc has no ideas ,no knew thing to bring to Ghana and how can the ndc do better on something they didn't think of and they didn't implement! what happened to the one time premium? what happened to the capitation grant? Ashanti region was put on a pilot of NHIS capitation for 4 years which killed many people in that region and they think every Ghanaian has short memory? I wish 2020 is today for them to see their level! You can ***barred word*** some of the people to vote for you but you can't ***barred word*** all of the people to vote for you to come to power over the dead bodies of Ghanaians.
Same NDC lied to Ghanaians that they would implement one time NHIS Premium. That was after it had been thought through and implemented by the NPP; could they do it!?
"We were building more E-Block Schools and as we continue to commission them, all the students that enrol in those facilities were enjoying free education" Really??? Did he say that?? Is Mosquito saying that the children who were enrolled in the E-Block schools were enjoying free education, whilst their counterparts in the regular schools were paying? What policy was that? It is now very clear that the free SHS is really biting hard at NDC, and they have nothing to counter it, so they just throw in anything.
Ghanaians open your eyes OOOOO NDC never again VOLTA FOR CHANGE
