Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has said claims by some Ghanaians that there is hardship under the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government are somewhat false.
The soft-spoken Finance Minister in an exclusive interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of PEACE FM’s flagship morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ argued that the incumbent has done immensely well to curb the hardship as compared to the Mahama-led government.
“If we look back from where we are coming from and where we are now, then I must say things are better now,” he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
He added that, “anyone who will complain of hardship is ungrateful to God.”
He said the state of the economy is "much much better" than in January 2017, when President Akufo-Addo ascended the throne.
According to him, electricity prices which has never been reviewed downwards in the history of this country was reduced under President Akuf-Addo, and such a move is to the benefit of all Ghanaians.
He emphasized that the National Health Insurance Scheme has witnessed a massive improvement and the Free Senior High School policy has greatly benefitted the entire populace, not forgetting the banking reforms which has made the economy much stronger, confident and attractive to all Ghanaians and investors.

YES,THE ECONOMY IS MUCH BETTER. THE FREE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL HAS INDEED BENEFITED ALMOST EVERY FAMILY IN THE COUNTRY. THIS HAS ENABLED ME TO SEND ONE OF MY NIECES TO UNIVERSITY OF GHANA TO PERSUE MEDICINE. I AM USING THE MONEY I WOULD HAVE USED TO PAY FOR HER OTHER SIBLINGS HIGH SCHOOL FEES TO PAY FOR HER TUITION AT THE MEDICAL SCHOOL. THIS IS THE CHANGE WE ASKED FOR. EVERYONE IS BENEFITING FROM THE ECONOMY NOT ONLY FEW POLITICIANS WHO USED TO ENJOY AT OUR EXPENSE. THIS IS THE CHANGE WE VOTED FOR.
YES YOU THE POLITICIANS ARE MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER BETTER THAN IN 2017. YES WE THE POPULACE DO NOT BLAME YOU. YOU ARE CHEATING US AND LIVING VERY GOOD ON OUR TOILS THROUGH THE VARIOUS TAXES AND WE ARE BEING MADE TO STARVE IN ABJECT POVERTY . POLITICIANS ARE WICKED AND THEIIIVES AND CORRUPT. WAIT YOUR TIME WILL SURELY COME. JJUULOOIII SONNN FIAFETOR AVUU KOKLO

PEOPLE WHO DO NOT UNDERSTAND BASIC DYNAMICS OF MANAGING AN ECONOMY SOMETIMES MAKE DISPARAGING REMARKS. I GUESS IF THE ECONOMY IS NOT FINE NOW MAHAMA WOULD NOT GO TO LONDON TO CLAIM CREDIT FOR THE POSITIVE TURN OF THE ECONOMY. EVEN THE NDC FLAGBEARER ADMITS THAT THINGS ARE BETTER NOW. OGA IF YOU HATE THE HARE NOT ITS SPEED.
NOW THAT YOU ARE IN POWER EVERYTHING GHANAIANS SAY IS FALSE. NO GHANAIAN IS SUFFERING BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE LUXURY OF DIPPING YOUR HANDS INTO THE STATE COFFERS FREELY WITHOUT ANY HINDERANCE. YOU ARE RIGHT TO SAY GHANAIANS ARE NOT SUFFERING AND THEY SHOULD NOT COMPLAIN. WELL DONE. IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT. IT IS THE MOST POLITE WAY OF SAYING WE (GHANAIANS) DESERVE IT.
