Former President John Mahama has bemoaned what he describes as economic hardships in Ghana and empathised with traders over poor sales.
According to Mr Mahama, traders no longer make money as they used to do when he was President.
"You are selling oysters, shrimps and so many other things. Nobody needs to come and tell you that the economy is not doing well. Everybody selling something today can see that they are making less sales than they used to do in the past and that is because times are hard.
"People came and told us that the money is there, that we were sitting on money but yet hungry.
"Today, the Finance Minister tells us that everyone knows that Ghana is broke. The NPP President in 2016 told us we are sitting on money but still hungry, so, why is the Finance Minister saying Ghana is broke?” Mr Mahama quizzed while speaking to some market women in Sogakpe in the Volta Region.
President Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, while campaigning for the 2016 election, said Ghana was rich but Ghanaians were not feeling it in their pockets because of the poor performance of the Mahama administration.

Every time he opens his mouth he sound sloppier than ever. What is going on?
Are you for real. Didn't Nana Addo say that during the campaign. Some of you are just hypocrites in this Country. You are simply greedy.
Waaaa look.
But Mr Mahama, you said in one of your statements that you had eaten the meat to the bone and that you wonder how the government would be able to pay workers when the NPP took over. Have you forgotten so soon or you want us to believe that you also suffer from the short-memory syndrome! Allow the New Patriotic Party (NPP) continue to fulfill its mandate while there is time and stop shifting their focus by such unwarranted comments.
