The government has revealed plans to provide accommodation for head porters in various  communities in Accra.

Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta said in the 2020 Budget statement in Parliament on Wednesday November 13, 2019 that the construction of the hostel will begin in December 2019 at Agbogbloshie, a suburb of Accra.

“Mr Speaker, I am happy to announce that preparations are now complete and the construction of the first 600-bed ‘Kayayei’ hostel will commence in Agbogbloshie next month to provide accommodation and skills training to these vulnerable young women,” he said.

The NPP Deputy Communications Director  commended President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government for fulfilling his promise to the head porters stressing that "this has always been my burden and a heart desire to see these hard working ladies have a decent place to lay their heads after a hard day's work"

"I am grateful to the President. Ghanaians are grateful and Kayayies are also grateful to the President. We say Ayekoo", she stated.

She was also optimistic about the commitment of President Akufo Addo’s administration to fulfill all promises to end the plight of Kayayeis in the coming year and asked Ghanaians to give the President another term in office.
