President Akufo-Addo has eulogized Finance Minister and his Cousin, Ken Ofori-Atta as a very competent, highly qualified and hardworking investment expert doing a Yeoman’s job for the country.
“I’m very (very) satisfied about the work that he is doing. He is not there because he is my Cousin . . . he is a very capable man, the first Investment Banker in our country, built a very successful business and he is extremely highly regarded in the world of finance and the investment community in here in Ghana and across the world, and I believe he is doing a Yeoman’s job for this country so I don’t have any difficulty with that,” he told the journalists.
In a media encounter at the seat of government in Accra on Friday, he reiterated the fact that he is not presiding over a government of family and friends.
“I’m not presiding over a government of family and friends, yes, one or two members of my family are in there . . . Ofori-Atta who is the Minister for Finance is my Cousin, he happened also at the time to have been the person responsible for the NPP fundraising drive, nobody made any criticism of him when he was in that position . . . I don’t think it is so difficult for somebody who has been a fundraiser to transition into a Finance Minister, apart from anything else, as far as I am concerned he is amazingly capable, he has been like a magician,” he said.
The President made the comment during his encounter with the Media at the Jubilee House on Friday while answering a question on claims by the opposition NDC party that he’s running a family and friends government.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sack the Finance Minister severally.
According to the NDC, sacking Mr Ken Ofori Atta as Finance Minister was a sure way to solving the PDS sagaamong other pressing issues.
The General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said this at a press conference in Accra in October.

@Don Biko. Were the collapsed Banks not given financial support? Didn't they squander those Ghanaian hard earned money? Were you expecting the government to continue throw good money after bad ones? Would you be happy if your father wasted the family resources on wastful sibling who cannot manage his/her finances well? The quarterly financial statement publications show much improved financial standings for the banks after the clean-up. Yes people lost jobs in the process and that is regretable. However,it is preferable to the inaction on the part of NDC which would have led to a total colapse of the financial sector.
Massa how much is the cedi to the pounds today?
@Don, don't mind this fuuul called @Truth. You have hit the nail right on the head. No one hears of GAT again these days self. What happened to it? Another tool to create ,loot and share. They are just mortgaging the country. Perhaps @Truth and his entire family should be sent to the Atiwa forest to work as laborers in the diamond mines which will be opened in the forest! Whilst others are trying to preserve the forest due to the effects of climate change you now want to go and destroy your forest because they have given you loan. What at all is wrong with the black race? @Truth is a w33dsmoker from the language he was using! The difference is clear: @Don wrote very good English whilst @Truth could not even construct one correct English word in his writing. The difference between an enlightened citizen who cares about the direction his country is going and a w33smuker who just came out of his ghetto! loool!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Ajeeeiiiii! By-product of one night stand paaaaaaa! Not even the main product! I laff enter Ken Ofori Atta's office to check next year's budget. Lol
@Truth.It is you and your entire generation who are madafakas! See this rented villager who for the chicken change that he is given ,will spew robbish on people for speaking the truth. It is because of people like @truth that politicians will continue to take us for a ride after all the only thing this ediot knows is insult well-meaning Ghanaians after he has smoked himself to stupor. For the majority of Ghanaians who are enlightened enough to know that their dignity is far more worth than what politicians have offered them, they will continue to strife for dignified lives instead of being the puppets of politicians for their dirty jobs. As for this by-product of a one-night stand hiding behind the name @truth I will urge you to first of all look for your father so he can teach you some home sense and decency. I won't descend into the gutters with you where you belong! Ediot!
When the NDC was taxing us byhart you people said it was the lazy man's approach, now we're being tax as if we came from another country to work here. You are presiding over day light robberyy! You are not half the man you said you were. Telling the so called Nigerians to stop petty trading is not a thing to say because we're one and the same, if there is a different person among us then it's the pale guys who unfortunately are controling you and asking you to drive the Nigerians away because they know that if black people come together they will be week against is. How can you reserve petty trading for us reserve timber bauxite gold for the white man? Why? Nana can't you see they're fullling us by reserving petty trading for us? The mining industry and timber should be reserved for a black Africans
You say your cousin has built a successful business in investment banking, and yet he doesn't see the wisdom in allowing Paa kwesi Nduom to also enjoy his hard work. You close indigenous banks and sell it to foreigners and claim they are investors from outside. So even investors from outside who normally have no trust in Africa are prepared to invest in Ghanaian banks but our own flesh and blood thought it was not worthy of Ghana government paying the Banks what was due them in terms of loans government has borrowed from these indigenous banks. If you pull down the house of your neighbors then you are indeed a wizard bless you!
How much of the Poor's people money is your cousin going to loott from us for your re-election campaign?
@Don fuk you and die slow modafuker...go fuk urself and fuk ur mama too oh fuk ur papa a$$...wanka go do farming for Akumfi pineapple factory you f00l..you want the president to put meal in front of you after factory who should grow the pineapples? your mama or papa? fok3n f00l..too many m0r0ns in Ghana.
What does it take to collapse financial institutions? Chicken brains. And how do you pretend to fix it? By forming a fraudulent and fictitious tool called Ghana Amalgamated Trust(GAT) which became DOA(dead on arrival). This guy must be that ediotic(perhaps from old age) to think Ghanaians can easily be fuuled. We know what an improved Ghana is when we see one and we have not seen one since Nkrumah was overthrown! We have only seen massive growth in National Debt, Corruption and yawning inequality between the rich and the poor. Very soon...and I mean very soon.. the average Ghanaian who has been taken for a ride for a very long time will rise up and take back their dignity. Their dignity does not lie in pittances handed to them during election years whilst the remaining years after elections they are relegated to the background to wallow in poverty and under development whilst juicy contracts are handed over to party members and cronies who inflate contracts to the detriment of the taxpayer. Yes, for you and your over-sized family-and-friends government Ghana "is working for you". However, for the teaming unemployed youth who can hardly afford a decent meal a day, a Ghana that works for all still remains a distant dream. God bless our homeland Ghana.
