National Communication Officer for the largest opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC], Sammy Gyamfi, has said Madam Jean Mensa cannot rescind her decision over the compilation of a new voters' register just because it was a contract she signed with President Akufo-Addo before her appointment as Electoral Commission Chairperson.
“Indeed, the compilation of a new voters' register for the up-coming general elections was a promise Jean Mensa made to the President before her position was granted her; therefore she needs to fulfill her promise . . . or she faces the consequences it comes with,” he alleged.
According to Sammy Gyamfi it is never true that members of the NDC dislike Jean Mensa as the Electoral Commission Chairperson.
In an interview with UTV’s 'Adekye Nsroma' political discussion segment, he vividly stated that “Ghana’s current voters' register is one of the cleanest and most credible the country has ever had in its history and at large in the world”.
Making reference to the planned demonstration by the opposition parties who are against the compilation of a new voters' register, Sammy Gyamfi indicated the turnout with respect to the demonstration held in Tamale makes him understand that their struggles for the best will not be in vain.
He added that “this should as well be a wake-up call to Jean Mensa to decide on doing that which is right for the peace of the nation and respect proper stakeholder meetings, which will make her office credible”.
The National Democratic Congress and five other political parties on Saturday organised a demonstration in Tamale to express their displeasure over EC's decision to compile a new voters’ register for the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

If Jean Mensa promised Nana New voter register, what did Charlotte Osei promised his boyfriend JM. NPP has on so many elections with the current ECOWAS Registar compiled by NDC appointed EC Chairman, However this is not the best way to go because Ghanaians deserve better, JM is no match for the NPP, even if Lordina is appointed as the referee. What at all didn’t Charlotte Osei do, she skewed everything in favor of JM but at the end of the day he suffered the worst election defeat in the history of Ghana
That prostit+te of a woman. Ashaw+ for job
haaaloooo, m a d man on the loose,pls put this d o g on the line. thx
this guy koraa what is his problem? Babes with sharp teeth u guys will rot in opposition IF u don't change the way u small boys of NDC speak on general platforms
uselessss political party
Samiaa hahahaah
this good for nothing guy of a lawyer is still talking??? doesn't he know he is just a nuisance in our years with such wild pronouncements? If Jean Mensah promised Akuffo Addo, What did Charlotte Osei promise Mr. Incompetent in Chief, JDM? Was it the reason why Charlotte could not declare the results of the 2016 elections until she was forcefully prevailed upon to do so? Promise gone bad indeed. Tell that little rat to give us some peace... he can go to hell for all we care. shut the hell up Sammy Gyamfi.
These are the facts why NDC is scared of a new and improved biometric register: 1. The current register was seriously bloated with minors, the dead and foreigners, which were all inserted with the tacit support of Charlotte Osei and Amadu Sulley. A new register will not allow that same practice to be repeated. 2. The BVMS supplied by STL has a maintenance tag of USD4m, and that goes to a JM and the party. They will lose that money with a new contract awarded through proper procurement procedure. 3. STL controls everything with the existing register and the whole voting management system, and that was how they were able to help NDC and JM rig with over 500,000 votes in 2012 elections. They were stopped from manipulating the system in 2016 and they dread that situation again. 4. They know they can't win any elections that are genuinely organized in this country. With the new BVMS that has facial recognition technology in addition to finger print and a genuine register, it will be almost impossible for NDc to win any election in Ghana. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has admitted it. 5. Charlotte Osei said during the impeachment of the three commissioners that Amadu Sulley had created thousands of illegal poling stations and also done thousands of illegal voter transfers. This cannot be done with a new voter register because Amadu is no more available to help NDC cheat. If NDC is sure they have very solid citizens support as they claim, why are they scared of a new register? All they have to do is to ensure that all qualified Ghanaians who want to register are given the opportunity to do so. Demonstrations will not help them in any way. The crowd that they pulled at their demonstration in Tamale attracted less than 500 participants. This was not encouraging at all. They should rather test the law at the Supreme Court instead of propagating lies and playing on the ignorance of some people. I think they will be better off adhering to the advice of Ben Ephson who has been helping them with fake poll projections.
There is something bothering my mind. What will the NDC lose if a new register is compiled? Is it the queuing (which i hate anyway)? Parties are supposed to send representative to the centers. After compilation all parties will be given copies. During voting only registered voters can vote. Vote is counted in the presence of party representatives and results declared. So what is it? Why are we behaving like this is the first election?
