Minister for Information and Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayerebi, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has denied reports the country will be locked to curb the spread of the Covid 19.
According to him, the President will address the nation at 6 pm to update Ghanaians on the latest preparations by the government after he has met with the coronavirus management team.
Speaking in an interview with Peace Fm's Akwasi Aboagye on Entertainment Review, he explained that the president will be speaking at 6 pm but there will no lockdown so Ghanaians should not panic, he added.
Ghana has recorded three more cases of the coronavirus less than 24 hours after five additional cases were reported.
This is according to the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Patrick Aboagye.
Mr. Aboagye says all three new cases were imported. According to him, two were reported from the Greater Accra Region and one from the Ashanti Region.
The carriers include a 55-year-old Ghanaian woman; resident of the UK who returned to Ghana within two weeks and an 84-year-old Ghanaian lady who is a resident of the United Kingdom but came back to Ghana within the past two weeks.
From the Ashanti Region, a 27-year-old Chinese male who returned to Ghana two weeks ago also tested positive. On Friday, March 20, the novel coronavirus cases in Ghana increased from 11 to 16.
Details from the Ghana Health Service’s website confirmed the latest development.

Its a good idea to fumigate the markets. What happens afterwards? Back to business as usual? What about the rubbish piled up in the markets? Will they be taken away from the markets? With the sellers at the market who are home today, when they come back to the markets tomorrow and any of them has the virus, what will that mean? Will the fumigation have been useful to the person? I think a more drastic measure has to be taken in order for this pandemic not to spread. With Ghana having less than 100 Ventilators, an outbreak will be catastrophic for us as a nation. If movement of people could be brought to a halt and allow only people who provide essential services to move around, that will help us a lot. How much of a lost will it be to the nation if the country is locked down for two weeks in order to deal with the situation at hand? The boarders are closed, the airport is also closed. No one coming in and no one going out - that is good. What about those in the country who already have the virus and are moving out and doing business as usual? are they not going to spread it? If they are at one place as a result of the lock down, can't it be contained? The lock down is necessary just for two weeks- 14 days and this will bring tremendous results. Initially, all the reported cases were imported, but we now have cases reported from the community. These will spread in the community as the people infected in the communities have been in touch with people in the community and those people in the community also contacted others and they have also contacted other people. This is endless. Lock down is the key to avoid the spread
Peacefmonkine your website is not mobile friendly Kindly work on it.
We are all Ghanaians. The coronavirus cant make out who is an NDC supporter and who is in the NPP party. Our families and loved ones are at risk. Let's learn from those countries that have lost thousands of lives. The solution is a lockdown. Ghanaians understand what it means and are calling for the safety of their families. Please dont play politics with this.
It's imported virus. Already Ghana is dependent on imports bcz of corruption. Even if we come with our bag from airport we should pay bribe. Pathetic unles dependency/imports decrease then only they can develop.
Let the government start "dishing out" the 100m dollars "corona money". They can then go ahead and lock down the country forever.
Ok but make sure you and your government closes all boarders ooo ooo eiiiii Ghana do you want things get out of hand
Stop the joke minister. The first person just died. The country should be on a lock down.
I can say it without fear Ghana lack vision. Come to Rwanda, the whole country is on a lockdown from this night. That is A country with vision not Ghana with full of old men with cluttered mindset. Bunch of kanks
Kojo please STOP the Chines people `!!!!!!
