The National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammy Awuku says coronavirus cases in Ghana would have worsened if Ghana had a President flip-flopping with decisions to contain the pandemic.
According to him, Ghana is blessed to have President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at this crucial time which requires pragmatic decisions to tackle the pandemic head-on.
“Under our circumstances government has done tremendously well in taking decisive decisions, bold decisions. Ghana is blessed to have Akufo-Addo and the NPP at this time. Because of the purposefulness, the courage and determination to confront this issue head-on. If we had any leader who was flip-flopping this time, by now Ghana would have recorded a higher number in terms of this deadly pandemic”
Globally, coronavirus cases have soared to over 1.1million infections with 60,000 deaths. Ghana’s case count has reached 205 confirmed cases with 5 deaths as of April 3, 2020. Ghana recorded first case of Covid-19 on March 13, 2020.
President Akufo-Addo on March 27, 2020 announced a partial lockdown of Accra and Parts of Greater Kumasi for two weeks as an enhanced measure to prevent community spread having closed down all Borders – Land, sea and Air spaces. Government also imposed mandatory 14 days quarantine for returnees in the country. Additionally, the President has established a Covid-19 Fund to help mobilize resources to fight the pandemic.
Sammy Awuku believes these decisions and interventions by the President have mitigated the spread of Coronavirus disease in the country.
“Look at the countries around us, even South Sahara Africa. South Africa jumped from a hundred to over five hundred in less than a week. At least if you look closely at it- government closing it borders both Air, Land and Sea it was a major decision”.
Sammy Awuku said this Saturday when he joined an exercise to disinfest markets in the Eastern Regional capital – Koforidua.
The Eastern region is the 10th region to benefit from the nationwide disinfestation exercise being carried out by government and Zoomlion Ghana Limited. About 200 market centres across the region were expected to be disinfested.
Present at the disinfestation exercise in Koforidua were the Deputy Minister of Local Government also MP for New Juaben North-Nana Adjei Boateng, Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization(NADMO) Eric Nana Agyeman -Prempeh, Regional Director of NADMO-Kwame Appiah Kodua, National Youth Organiser of NPP Henry Nana Boakye, Municipal Chief Executives for New Juaben North and South -Comfort Asante and Isaac Appaw Gyasi respectively.

As per WHO and advanced countries projection on the spread of the virus(exponential). Ghanaians should not believe in figures thrown to the public because it's coming from NPP. Corona virus does not respect any political party and there is no boundary. Please stop your childish and idiiiotic comments. it will not help anybody. I loose nothing if you die, much as it does not add to the price of goods and services in town. Let's find a common sense approach in fighting this pandemic
Continue to live in a fuuls paradise,.Massaging corona figures will not help anybody whether is NDC or NPP. When the real situation starts emerging we shall find our smoothness level. For god's sake let's not politicize this pandemic. Invest in research institutions, get scientist together to brain storm to come out with at least 50% probables that will help us. The so called men of God could not do shiiiit. It's about time to research into traditional herbs/medicine. DIVIDED WE ALL FALL, UNITED WE WILL WIN THE FIGHT AGAINST CORONA VIRUS. There are local herbs that are very potent. Common sense must dictate the pace and stupiiid political, useleeeees, inward looking and infantile talks
You just another ***barred word*** just like politicians, that is if you are not a politician already. Are politicians making genuine money. Sammy Awuku an organizer of a party is rich overnight and you see nothing wrong with it.
His richness or wealth is not the subject of discussion here. Criticize his propaganda and not his wealth. Praise singing is wrong at this time but as for making money everyone including you want to.
In a country where institutions work and political office is not an avenue for amassing wealth, the likes of this black barboon called Sammy awuku would have been very poor. But look what we have in Ghana here: he and ablakwa,Ofosu kwakye, etc have become rich overnight through merely being in politics for such a short time! Oh Africa! Hmmmm! When will the impoverished people of this abundantly blessed country wake up and hold their politicians accountable?
This corrupt ediot should disappear with this cheap politics! Then what would you say about Nigeria whose population is 6 times that of Ghana yet they have fewer cases and fewer deaths? We don't need sloganeering at this point. If we do more testing the numbers will quickly jump up and at that point I wonder if he would open his mouth again to sing praises in these early days. There are already cases where people tested positive without any travel history or any contact with those who travelled and tested positive. The question is where did they get it from and how many of such people are out there? These are issues we should think seriously about instead of praise-singing! Some nations did not record a single case yet their presidents declared state of emergency ahead of recording their first incidence. As a matter of fact Ghana leads in the case count in West Africa! Those have have lower case count don't even sound so complacent! So Sammy wetin be your won?
The countries around us half huge numbers because they are not lying about the numbers. They are not doing politics like your government whose ministers meet to confer that if they give the right numbers, nana addo will be unpopular. Who are you deceiving when you claim no government official has it. Ironically, some citizens who never travelled has been tested and have COVID 19 yet government officials who travel like water, none of them has it, but kayayes and taxi drivers and nurses and doctors have it. Akohwifo, atruofuo!
Alright! When the frog is dead we shall see the extent of its full length. Take care my brothers and sisters and don't mind these politicians.
Ghana's cases are even high. Nigeria with a population of over 200 million have less than 300 cases. What should Buhari say? The virus simply does not thrive in tropical countries like Ghana. Don't make cheap politics out of this. But then again its difficult to blame the likes of Awuku, because, frankly, outside of politics, what are his life achievement??? Zero! But with politics, he has everything he needs in life
Sammy Awuku, yooo we hear. But we disagree because it is too early to draw such conclusions, especially when we don't even know how to do proper lockdown and shutdown of our borders and territories to the extent that foreigners are able to cross our borders and cross lockdown territories to get to the capital. A word of advice: please don't say things that may later turnout to be untrue and expose the president, ok?
