The country was thrown into a state of ecstasy following President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s address to the nation, Sunday, which announced some interventions by the government as it strives to limit and stop the importation of Coronavirus, contain its spread, provide adequate care for the sick and limit the impact of the virus on social and economic life.
Among others, the president mentioned that the government will absorb the water bills for all Ghanaians for April, May and June; roll out a soft loan scheme up to a total of six hundred million cedis (GH¢600 million), which will have a one-year moratorium and two-year repayment period for micro, small and medium scale businesses.
An insurance package, he said “with an assured sum of three hundred and fifty thousand cedis (GH¢350,000) for each health personnel and allied professional at the forefront of the fight, has been put in place, with a daily allowance of one hundred and fifty cedis (GH¢150) being paid to contact tracers.”
A tax holiday for all health workers, for the next three months was also announced while disclosing that “all frontline health workers will receive an additional allowance of fifty per cent (50%) of their basic salary per month, i.e April, May, and June. The March allowance will be paid alongside that of April.”
The wild jubilation however became political as some social media users turned the conversation into an election game changer. They suggested that the president has scored political points, slimming former president John Mahama’s chance of bringing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) back to power.

Unfounded bogus storey with senstation topic to woo people.
This is most stuuppidd statement ever, coming from no mean a person but a former President of Ghana. A man who under the normal circumstance is supposed to be a statesman had stooped too low to make politics with a human-centered feat undertaken by a President who has his people at the heart and is determined to save them from Convid-19 pandemic despite all economic difficulties. For former President Mahama to reduce it to vote-buying or the President, using it to advantage at the election is unfortunate and smacks of political inexpediency. Taking the necessity of the policy in light of the fight against convid-19 pandemic into consideration.
What is the problem with those touting the negativity with President’s show of leadership? If you have problem with these reliefs, you can get JDM to promise one man one Benz.
Election year and his promises are free everything, This man is slowly bankrupting the national economy.
I just saw the Onuado van procured under JM in town. The government left it to deteriorate and they are now using it. Time will tell
John Mahama is no doubt a visionary leader and has proven to be one. This is the type of leader Ghana needs, someone who really thinks about the future and that is exactly what the youth of this Country should be yearning for. Consider most of the infrastructural development we witnessed during his tenure...like the construction of health facilities and the likes. At that time most people felt those infrastructural developments were not necessary and his successor subsequently abandoned at the peril of the people of this Country. There are many more latent projects that have been abandoned by this administration that will become a necessity for the people of Ghana in the coming days. Let's give credit to our forebears who have laid the foundation for the requirements in fighting this pandemic. Remember whatever waivers you enjoy is the tax payers money. Respect the two sides of the coin and be objective.
Some Ghanaians are soo ***barred word*** oooo. Why this freebies freebies. Remember there’s is nothing like free lunch. We will pay all the same
Just Relax Ghanaians are not ***barred word*** for Politicians to sail through even the first President Nkrumah did more things still we crusified him. Watch out 2020 is full of surprises does why Ghanaians Prophet did see coronavirus coming. So 2020 general elections is to bring the least to great and the great to to least.
But why are people surprised, this is peacefmonline an 80% aligned npp station so why are people angry with them. This is the way of presenting their news and if you think they are with NDC please revise your notes.
