The attention of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been drawn to a supposed leaked internal memo purportedly coming from the National Steering Committee of the party announcing a new date for the party’s 2020 parliamentary and presidential primaries.
The party wishes to state unequivocally that it has NOT issued any such statement/memo and there has not been any emergency National Steering Committee meeting on April 20, 2020, as claimed in the said fake statement/memo.
In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the party, John Boadu stated that; "Indeed, the last National Steering Committee meeting of the party was held on April 14, 2020, at which meeting, the party decided to suspend its primaries till further notice in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions imposed by the President pursuant to EI 64."
The party further stressed that, it has, till date, not met at any level, to review this position following the President’s decision to lift the partial lockdown imposed on some major cities in the country. And, as the party has always done, if any such decision is taken, same will be communicated to the general public through our official platforms including the party’s website: (newpatrioticparty.org )
"It is pretty obvious that this fake memo was authored by some political mischief makers to create disaffection for the party and the President, whose popularity has soared significantly across the globe, having demonstrated great leadership in his handling of the COVID-19 situation in Ghana."
Finally, the NPP wishes to state for the avoidance of doubt that until otherwise communicated, the party’s 2020 parliamentary and presidential primaries remain suspended, and the memo being circulated on social media is FAKE and should accordingly be treated with all the disdain that it deserves.

John Buadu is a member of the Kweku Ananse tradition who commit crimes and look for scapegoats elsewhere.
Ghanaians should ignore the alcoholic effusions of that coup maker and usurper general secretary who has outlived his usefulness and relevance to our society.
I'm still surprised some people think that they can't hold events or the EC can't organise its registration. I'm of the opinion that we can if we stick to strict rules. 1. Anyone seeking to attend a polling station to register should leave the house with some form of mask on. If they don't have one, they will immediately be provided with one by volunteers at the polling station. They should wear the mask throughout the process until they are done and reached home. At the polling stations, there will be multiple places where they will wash their hands and have their hands been sanitized by hand sanitizers. Within the period of them standing in line, their hands will sanitize every 1hr. 2. A wooden object of 2meter distance should be placed between each person to observe the social distancing. I believe that if we take these measures, we can go about our normal lives with slightly new disciplines for us to observe. 3. Sellers of food and other products which are readily consumed without protective covers should be strictly monitored and ensure that they wear a mask throughout the preparation and selling of the product whiles ensuring their hands are constantly sanitized. This will ensure that we return back to normal life. Any person who is boarding any public transport should wear a mask and hands sanitize before allowing to board. No mask, no entry. Let's observe these and we will be fine.
