General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has questioned the locus of Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, who is urging the public not to discredit the work of medical experts leading the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia said he [Kojo] leading the communication of a specialised medical team is problematic.
“Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah telling us not to discredit medical experts; Are you [Kojo] a surgeon?” he stated while reacting to the issue on Asempa FM Tuesday.
Mr Oppong-Nkrumah made the call to clarify some controversies over the national testing capacity and projection figures for pre-peak scenarios.
Many, including social and political commentators, have accused the government of massaging the figures for political points.
But Mr Oppong-Nkrumah said these experts, including professors; virologists, epidemiologists, laboratory technicians, clinicians, among others, deserve encouragement and support instead of condemnation.
The Information Minister added that, casting a slur on the reputation of these individuals and their institutions is harmful to their reputation and the national image.
However, Mr Nketia vehemently disagreed with Mr Oppong-Nkrumah’s position arguing that, they have the right to ask questions to clear their doubts. He stressed that, the controversy about the testing is self-inflicted since the person leading the government’s communication is not a medical expert.
General Mosquito, as he is popularly called, advised the government to replace Mr Oppong- Nkrumah with a medical expert if they want the public to believe the information about COVID-19.

Asiedu Nketia, what a sil-ly thing to say. So Ghana must have a surgeon as information minister for covid-19. When there is war, we replace with an army officer, for riot with a police officer, for water problems with a GWCL personnel, for electricity with someone from ECG or GridCo, and for rub-bish talk with Asiedu or you decide.
This is some of the reasons why I decree like the Jews said never again to ndc because they are in leadership crisis, confusion no ay3 basaa there’s no surgeon in the team fighting COVID-19. This simply brings in mind that NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU
When you can't beat him intellectually attack his personality...Propaganda champions
NPP is loosing and because of that one person can just be changing his or her name and just be insulting. 2020 elections will see Nana ADDO RETIRE IN POLITICS
This man is always talking nons3nz3 and wonder when this will stop. Akando should be replaced immediately and he should tell us when Ghana has had an information minister who is knowledgeable in all fields like KON?
NDC and lies. Hmm now Ghanaians know the ***barred word*** family. Nothing better comes out of a ***barred word***. Even opposition, they are still failing
You are wearing a mask and t you are asking about some one’s credential be it a surgeon or not. How many people in your village, community etc have access to masks? Yet you have one on and talking ***barred word*** about who is a surgeon or not!
Full.llish man.....
As for this man.... hmmm
This Aseidu man is a living contradiction. Am surprised he is wearing a face mask after claiming COVID is not real and that it is just fakenews created for Akufo Addo to rig the elections. The amazing contradiction is the fact that the NDC minority spokesperson on health by name Akando is not a health worker of any kind, not seen the for corners of a university before. The shameful contradiction is the fact that none of the two persons leading the so-called COVID team is a healthworker and none of the members is a surgeon. This is NDC logic.
