NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency, Hon. George Mireku Duker has emphatically stated that as a political party they don't expect every body in the country to acquire a voters’ ID card.
According to him, it has never happened in this country before and it will not happen in the compilation of this new register.
He said though it is the right of every citizen to register, some people are just not interested in it.
"I don't expect members of the largest opposition party to conclude per their assumptions that the laid down precautionary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 at registration centres will prevent some citizens from registering when they are much aware that not all eligible voters will come out to register whether or not there is a pandemic," he said.
He argued that nobody is forcing any National Democratic Congress (NDC) member to go and register if they feel the precautionary measures put in place will not favour them.
“Stay at home if you wish as the exercise goes on,” he said as a panelist on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ newspaper discussion programme.
