Prof. Stephen Asare, A Fellow at the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has justified why Daniel Domelovo made public the change of locks at his office.
According to him the Auditor-General is directly employed by the people of Ghana and not by a Ministry or the President, and so he’s accountable only to Parliament.
"I believe he wants everything that he does to be transparent and so if he went to his office and the locks are changed and he goes to the people who hired him, Ghanaians for that matter and he tells them; I went to my office and the locks are changed, why is that a problem?" he questioned.
The Auditor-General, Daniel Domelovo who is on a 167-day leave realised locks to his office had been changed when he reportedly went there to pick up some documents.
A video capturing the scene where he was locked out came to the public domain even though it is not clear if he took the video himself.
This generated controversy with some wondering why the locks were only changed without his knowledge especially because he is only on leave.
Speaking to this on Joy News' file programme, Prof. Stephen Asare, asked those criticizing the A-G if they will hold the same views if the locks to the President's office were changed without his knowledge when he goes on leave.
"I don’t think people will be saying the same thing if the President went on leave and his office was locked or keys to his office were changed; they won't be saying the same thing if it happened to the Speaker, the Chief Justice . . . we need a little bit of consistency. Why do you direct somebody to go on leave and then you go and change the locks?" he rhetorically asked.
According to him, this raises the "political temperature"; adding "It’s not good and we must condemn it".

This so called Professor has never made sensible contribution ever since he started talking from the US and now a fellow at CDD. He is actually walking encyclopedia with ***barred word*** knowledge. I wonder why this Demelevo -AG has been pampered to this extent.Helacks disciline. I am a partly qualified accountant and this man lacks the code of conducts of the accountancy profession. Some of these code of ethics and conducts are integrity, professional competence and due care, professional behaviour etc. Demelevo runs to the media on accounts, issues he himself has not issued the final report. He has not shown neither of these ethics and conduct. So,people do not encourage him flout the ethics and conducts of his own profession. I bet everyone if he is a member of ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW and continue to behave in this manner they will struck him out from thier good standing list. We have so many people parading themselves as accountants but actually they are not and I am sure Professor Asare is one, they only have some qualifications in accountancy but not qualified chartered Accountants. No proper qualified chartered Accountants will behave the way Mr Demelovo is doing.
This guy is a fake lawyer paaaa, how can you compare the president with the AG? In any case will the president go to the office whiles on leave without letting the vice president know about it? What was he going to do there? Is he the only person who loves his job?
Prof without home sense is as empty as an 'empty barrel ' Where on this planet can a comparison be made between an auditor general and a president? Come again Prof Asare? Socrates and his contemporaries were regarded as learned persons not because of their academic laurels but because of their 'home sense' Despite the many years they passed away, people continue to study their thoughts. God save Ghana from these bankrupt minds.
