The General Secretary of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah courted backlash when he accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of being the masterminds behind the successionist group in the Volta Region.
“ . . As far as I’m concerned, what is being hyped as the Western Togoland issue is a 100 percent NPP orchestration. Not 90, not 95, not 98 but 100 percent NPP orchestration because NPP will want to do everything to make sure that you don’t participate fully in the December elections,” he told party supporters.
However, some political pundits have criticized this comment saying it is undeserving of a General Secretary.
Reacting to this on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', the Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako said he will not give any importance to the remarks made by the man popularly known as General Mosquito.
"To sustain, retain, and maintain my sanity I will ignore reacting to Asiedu Nketiah’s comment. I ignore that mosquito bite . . . I’m not going to deal with this issue for the reasons I have outlined," he pointed out.
