Former President and the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has questioned the spending attitude of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to him, during his administration, Ghana’s financial purse was well managed but the Akufo-Addo government can’t give a good account of what they use the State’s money for.
Mr. Mahama, delivering a speech at a Town Hall meeting at Cape Coast in the Central Region, recounted how his government utilized the national revenue saying they constructed Elmina Fish Processing Plant, Kokokraba Market, Komenda Sugar Factory, Elmina bridge, Kwame Nkrumah interchange among others.
He stated that his government incurred a debt of Ghc 56 billion but President Akufo-Addo, in his first term, has recorded a whopping 140 billion debt stock.
“What has he used the 140 billion his government has borrowed for?
"They have done nothing with the money, yet they are asking for four more. Is it four more to add more debts to the already existing debts?" Mr Mahama questioned.

In the last 8 years, the two parties borrowed monies in our name, so we have to ask questions. If you want to be political about this then am sorry for you because we owe as a nation and you and I would have to settle all these debts. Open your eyes Ghana, why would you borrow so much in just 4 years and yet can’t see the tangibility of what you borrowed. Am very disappointed in a lot of Ghanaians, and I know some will vote for this government not because they did anything extra ordinary but because they love them. He should tell us why we owe so much and yet our roads are bad He should tell us why we owe so much and yet health and NHIS challenges Haven’t even completed a school or built additional health facility. Greedy bastards and but leakers
Mr Mahama why are you asking this daft question? This is far beneath you .Let your half literate assigns ask such questions. Are you not the one who has asserted on many platforms that all loans and grants pass through parliament and all the projects the funds are used for are gazetted ?So why are you implying that no one knows what loans contracted by this administration were used for?Besides it seems you have conveniently forgotten the numerous debts you left in all sectors of the economies or that the foreign loans you contracted have to be serviced and paid off as the time of those loans expired? You Sir are one hell of a hypocrite.
