NPP National Organizer, Sammi Awuku has admonished the Electoral Commission (EC) officials and security agencies at the various polling stations across the nation to be vigilant.
Ghana will hold her Presidential and Parliamentary elections on Monday, December 7, 2020.
Twelve political parties and their candidates are contesting the elections.
As the nation gears up for the D-day, suspicions are already building up over the elections.
Sammi Awuku has disclosed that some unscrupulous persons are scheming to replace the EC's ink pad in the ballot booth with a harmful one.
According to him, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has intercepted some toxic ink pads that can potentially cause health problems to the electorates.
He pleaded with the security agencies to watch out for persons who act mischievously in the booth.
"We plead with the security agencies, EC officials and Presiding officers to be vigilant so that no person will go into the booth and use a different ink pad. As I speak to you, the FDA has intercepted some samples of ink that some people have mischievously imported, which after they tested; the report indicates that it's corrosive," he said.
Sammi Awuku believes the Presidential candidate of his party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will, however, win the elections.
"This is the battle we have to win. Even though the battle is the Lord's, the victory must be always," he stated.
Meanwhile, on Friday, December 4, 2020, President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former President cum Presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama signed a peace treaty.
