The Minority Caucus in Parliament has accused the ruling NPP government of interfering in the process of constituting Electoral Colleges for the election of Regional Representatives to the Council of State in clear violation of article 89 (1c) of the Constitution.
The MP for Odododiodioo constituency, Nii Lante Vanderpuye spoke on behalf of the Minority Caucus at a press conference in Parliament House on Thursday to the issue.
He alleged that the government is illegally hand-picking people to Constitute Electoral Colleges towards the election of the regional representatives to the Council of State.
Nii Lante Vanderpuye said the Minority will take legal action against the government if the abuse of the process continues.
However, the Majority Whip and MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh described the allegation made by the minority as unfounded and challenged the Minority caucus to provide evidence to back their claim.
