Social commentator, Bernard Allotey Jacobs is hopeful the incumbent government will curb the galamsey menace but admits it is a difficult fight.
Allotey Jacobs, making submissions on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', stated that there is no end to galamsey because the very people to help fight it are the same people engaged in it.
He revealed that the galamsey business is majorly run by politicians in the country.
"Politicians in this country, they're deeply involved in this galamsey business. They are deeply involved. I'm telling you that they're deeply involved. I know for sure. I know where they do galamsey in Ashanti, Western and Central Region(s). I don't know much about Eastern Region. I stress that politicians in this country are deeply involved," he stated.
He believed to end illegal mining, these politicians will have to quit or rather get proper authorization to engage in small-scale mining.
Allotey also rebuked Ghanaians for showing a bad attitude in the battle against galamsey.
"What are we doing to Ghana? We ask ourselves what are we doing to this country? Are we building Ghana?" he questioned.
