The NDC Member of Parliament(MP) for Buem Constituency in the Oti Region, Kofi Adams, has waded into the speculation of Dr Kwabena Duffuor lacing his boots to contest the NDC Presidential Primaries, saying the former Finance Minister will not put himself up for any trouble.
According to him, something would have to go wrong before Dr Kwabena Duffuor would think of contesting John Mahama in the Presidential Primaries as he has a good relationship with the former President.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, the former NDC National Organizer cast doubt on reports that Dr Duffuor harbours such thoughts.
“I doubt if Dr Duffuor with his kind of experience and the work he has done in this country, and looking at his age will put himself through this trouble. I know the man very well and unless something went wrong, I don’t think that Dr Duffuor will put himself through such trouble,” he indicated.
He counselled that anybody who want to run against John Dramani Mahama for the right to be flagbearer of the NDC should take a clue from the results of the 2019 Presidential Primaries, when the other five flagbearer hopefuls failed to even poll 5 per cent of the total votes.
Whiles admitting that it is the democratic rights of every NDC member to put their names for an election, Kofi Adams, who stopped short of singling anyone out for criticisms, cautioned against possible candidates using the NDC presidential primaries as a guise to seek fame.
He, however, pointed out what such candidates, if they are so hell-bent on gaining popularity, can do to satisfy that desire.
“If anybody wants to be popular and he has money, even the filing fee alone, if he gives it to bloggers, they will help make him popular rather than to contest a Presidential Primaries that John Mahama is involved”.
“Bloggers can promote that person than to waste his money to contest John Mahama to gain popularity. We have not opened nominations and so I don’t want to mention names and besides, Dr Kwabena Duffuor has not declared his intention to contest the Presidential Primaries,” he insisted.

If ndc is running the presidential election on age but not on critical thinkers then i wonder the kind of human beings who vote for them ! I agree John mahama will be in his 70s after 2024 so ndc logic is mahama is always young even at age 80 such people were ruling sensible people in Ghana because you don't talk ! The f--ls will continue to use their loud mouth to get power if the wise sit unconcerned !
If he is not scared, why is he wasting his time constantly in the press arguing that no one will contest Mahama? Does it make Duffuor an enemy of Mahama if he chooses to contest? No! It's a democracy and nothing wrong with healthy competition. Unless Mahama is not up for competition and thinks he owns the party. Finally, Mahama is not young himself he will be entering his 70's after the 2024 elections. Age is not a factor, its what you can do for the people of this country that's the real issue.
In fact, for a member of parliament to make such a blatant argument gives a cause for alarm. To the honorable MP Kofi Adam's mind, Dr. Duffuor should have a bad relationship with Mahama to democratically contest him (Mahama) in the primaries. And yet Mr. Adams had democratically presented himself to an election and had won to present a constituency in parliament. This kind of thinking is akin to sycophants that abound in their numbers in the NDC.
With all this kind of a man in parliament making laws for Ghanaians, there is no hope.
