Dr Gideon Boako, Spokesperson to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has reacted to persons criticizing him for reportedly shading Alan Kyerematen.
Political pundits especially from the camp of Mr Alan Kyerematen hold the view that since there was a gentleman's agreement between him and now President Akufo Addo in 2007, the former should be allowed to lead the NPP as the presidential candidate in 2024.
This view has been strongly rejected by the Bawumia camp.
Dr Boako believes since the then candidate Akufo-Addo didn't win the 2008 election, that agreement no longer holds.
“Instead of keeping to the commitment of conceding to me to go again so you can come after, you contested me. I lost and decided to go again and there again you did not concede to me but contested me,” he explained... Once you do this, you have withdrawn the commitment you made to me. Should the assurance I gave you still hold even after you subsequently withdrew your commitment to me on two separate occasions? Once you withdrew your commitment the consequential assurance from me also stands withdrawn,” he wrote on Facebook.
Hours after his post went viral, Dr Boako was and is still been censured for disrespecting Mr Alan Kyerematen.
But speaking in an interview on Neat FM's Me Man Nti programme, Dr Boako pointed out that he only expressed his views; which he is entitled to.
"They were rhetorical questions ...processing of ideas which I put in a certain analogy; is it true that there was a promise or an agreement and was it legally binding? I didn't mention anyone's name nor put it in an NDC NPP context. There were a lot of people who are confused about this and when you process it without any distortion, and you want to create an analogy, you are free to do so especially when you don't attack people's personally. It's an opinion..." he pointed out.

And so this Gideon Boako guy has got MOUTH TO REPLY ALLAN. WHY CAN’T YOU USE A QUARTER OF THAT ENERGY TO DEFEND BAWUMIA WHILST HE’S BEEN DESCRIBED AS THE MOST LYING VICE PRESIDENT BAWUMIA SHOULD FIRE THIS GUY OR HE IS HEADING TO THE END OF HIS POLITICAL AMBITION
Furthermore, whether you like it or not, aside from Bawumia, the Vice President's hard work, he has an upperhand advantage over Alan because of the fact that he is the incubent vice president. That is not to be underestimated in our part of the world.
I would advise the NPP supporters coming from Alan's camp not to push Alan to repeat the mistakes he made by contesting Akufo-Addo. I don't want to overstate the fact that Alan hasn't done enough research to know if he has a chance of beating Vice President Bawumia in the NPP primaries. There is no doubt that Alan is a hard-working, competent politician. Nevertheless, he lacks the ability to test the waters and strategize for his own support for political expediency. There is no way he can beat the Vice President in the primaries, because the Vice President has performed remarkablely and he has won the hearts of many Ghanaian electorates, and that cuts across beyond the NPP and NDC-arena. And that makes it very difficult for Alan to match him. However, Alan has a favorable situation to strategically partner with Bawumia to break the 16-year term so that they can both reap the harvest of their hard work programs, namely, 1D1F, planting for food, FSHS, digitalization, and what have you, which might have begun to mature. This would undoubtedly be a huge success for the electorate to extend the mandate of the NPP-administration hands down. Alan must, therefore, this time show clear sacrifice and teamwork..
And why does Alan K thinks he's entitled to the presidency? Lets look at Bawumiah and Alan's performances in their various position and ask who's more qualified to lead the party. Alan has been mia ever since he abandoned the party due to his childish tantrums. He is no presidential material intellectually, personality or oratically. He should just put in his best now and forget about his misplaced dreams.
