Ghanaians have attacked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after he dodged a question on the Anti-LGBT bill currently before Parliament.
Akufo-Addo held a joint press conference with U.S. Vice President, Kamala Harris, at the Jubilee House Monday, March 27th 2023 after her arrival in Ghana.
During the presser, the Ghanaian leader was asked about the LGBT currently before Parliament that was proposed by Sam George and other like-minded MPs.
Harrris asserted her support for the LGBT community and Akufo-Addo played a game of politics with his answer.
He denied the bill has been passed and said it is not even an official legislation of his government but a private members bill.
He said even after the bill is passed, he will have to sign it into law.
His answers completely angered Ghanaians who called him out for ‘selling out’ the country.
One enraged netizen wrote: “See the way Akuffo Addo swerve the LGBTQ question in front of Kamala Harris! He say the Anti LGBTQ bill Ebi private ppl draft! U preside over a ppl of whom over 95% don’t support LGBTQ but u can’t be bold n say it coz u are broke n powerless! God help us!,”
