The Assin North New Patriotic Party (NPP) has held its constituency elections to elect executive members to steer the affairs of the party.
In all, 527 eligible delegates voted for 9 candidates for various positions in the party in addition to one candidate who went unopposed.
At the end of the polls, persons believed to be supporting the candidature of the former Trades Minister, Alan Kyerematen, won the various positions. For instance, the elected Chairman, BENJAMIN ESSAH polled 304 votes to win the position and the Women’s Organizer, MAAME AMA ASANTEWAA OBENG won with 384 votes. The newly elected Women Organizer is the Deputy National Coordinator of Alan's Professional Group, Progress Club.
Alan’s decisive victory in this election is a big blow to the Bawumia's campaign, which is thriving on cash and intimidation of NPP executives and government appointees.
It is clear that the Delegates have made their minds up to chop Bawumia's money but vote for a candidate who has national appeal and can beat NDC and John Mahama in the 2024 general elections.
The Constituency Campaign Coordinator for Alan in the Assin North Constituency indicated to NPP supporters to stand firm and resist every intimidation by voting massively for Hon. Alan Kyerematen to retain power in 2024.
In a recent survey published by the Global Info Analytics, a renowned research group has tipped Alan to win the election.
