My attention has been drawn to a cunning attempt to use a truncated part of a full hour interview I granted to King Tom TV, on Friday, May 19, 2023, for unfair political advantage. For purposes of clarity, I wish to state the full facts as follows; 1. ‘Aduru Wo So’ and/or Competence.
I strongly believe, and I have stated on countless occasions, that Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen is the most competent person in the NPP presidential race. In fact, far more competent than his main opponent, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.
I also have no problem with Alan’s team campaigning with the famous “aduru wo so” slogan. I however stand by my opinion that, if a campaign team has such a competent candidate like Alan Kyerematen, his team must major most on his competence which is never in doubt.
2. Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia betrayed the UP-Tradition at all material times. Yes, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia’s father was a member of the then Northern People’s Party. However, when the then Northern People’s Party (NPP), led by Chief Dombo, was merging with Busia-led Progress Party, Bawumia’s father betrayed the Dombo-led NPP by cross-carpeting to the then ruling government of CPP led by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
It is instructive to note that, Bawumia’s father at all material times, when it mattered most, betrayed the UP Tradition by joining our opponents to defeat us.
Bawumia’s father joined Kwame Nkrumah against Dr. K.A Busia and Chief Dombo.
In the 1979 election, Alhaji Bawumia’s father supported Dr. Liman and campaigned against Victor Owusu who was the candidate for Popular Front Party (PFP), the party of the UP-Tradition.
In the 4th Republic elections of 1992, 1996 and 2000, Dr. Alhaji Bawumia’s father joined the NDC, supported and campaigned for the late former President JJ Rawlings against Professor Albert Adu Boahen in 1992 and President JA Kufour 1996 and 2000 elections.
Being a proud founding member of the NPP I could not, by any stretch of the imagination, be against an ‘aduru me so’ campaign for Alan Kyerematen, especially when I myself I am an integral part of the very history of the New Patriotic Party.
…Signed…
Dr. Winfred Richard Anane

Dr Anane, in your attempt to clarify issues, you confounded them. The "aduru me so" mantra erodes and rubbishes the accepted norm of meritocracy. Who the cap fit let him wear it. Let the iniquities of Bawumia's father come visit upon his son! Dr Anane, try as you did to sharpen both sides of the knife to harm nobody, you fell flat. You still support the 'aduru me so' spoken story of some of the party stalwarts. The national delegates conference will soon determine who will be the party's candidate within the party because of 'aduru me so' .And the same delegates would select the candidate who would be appealing for national office; and Bawumia wins hands and pants down! Down with the 'it is my turn' cacophony.
These are some of the characters whose attitudes were not helpful for the cause of the npp. So the “sins” of a father should be brought to a hardworking son who has demonstrated his loyalty and love for the grand old party. This lN@nsense of Im from the UP tradition didn’t win an election for Victor Owusu and Prof Adu Boahen blessed memories. The npp has worked very hard to be winning parliamentary seats in the Sefwis, Aowin, Nzema, Wassa, Walewale and others which were no go areas for the npp. This is the reason why the npp has become the slightly bigger party than the ndc in terms of numbers not just from the only massive numbers votes from the Ashanti Region which is my region. The delegates should vote for Bawumia to further expand the npp base and cement the npp as the biggest party in our fatherland and motherland Ghana. A word to the wise is in the north for the 2024 elections. This tribal bigotry should not be tolerated in the npp.
Sir I beg to differ from your opinion. What shows Mr Alan is more competent than His excellency Dr Bawumia. You may have issues with his father but you cannot paint the son with the same brush who has been loyal to the NPP from Hipic days. Dr Bawumia's contribution to the NPP during President Kuffuor's days until now is not in doubt. I don't know the yardstick you are using to measure the competence of both. Please bring out your measuring rod and lets do objective analysis of who is more competent. Where are all the so called PSI projects placed under Mr Alan during president Kuffuor's time. Are they functioning as per the objectives of the project? NPP have picked Akan candidates all this while from Prof Adu Boahene , through Ex President Kuffuor to now President Akkufo Addo. And now that there's an equally competent person from another tribe you these group are raising all sorts of gibberish. The NPP party must be inclusive and other tribes must be allowed to lead as well so far as they are competent enough. All the 3 main contenders are capable of leading but I believe when the nod is given to Dr Bawumia it will do the party good and position it as a very inclusive one for all.
