Minister for Ashanti Region, Simon Osei Mensah has endorsed the presidential candidacy of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Hon. Simon Osei Mensah touted Dr. Bawumia as the candidate to clinch a one-time victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), come 2024.
To him, the NPP's "break the eight" goal can be achieved only by electing the Vice President to lead them.
"...we want to break the eight and since we want a candidate who will go for the first time and win the presidency for the first time, I say I want Dr. Bawumia."
He also stated another reason why he fully supports Dr. Bawumia is "because we want to set that record in this country that it is possible to have a candidate who will contest the presidential elections for the first time and win for the first time without running on a number of times before he wins and the breaking is possible and it's very, very possible with Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia".
"We want the best out of the best", he added and in his candid opinion, there is no better flagbearer for the NPP than Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The Minister made this known during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show.

DONT MIND THAT BOREHEAD SIMON O MENSAH, HIS HEAD LIKE A BAG OF ROTTEN ONION BAWU WHAT?
If Bawumia is the bezt rhen you dont have the men as claimed, what a disappointment, rewarding mediocrity, how do you make him Leadee after failing as head of EMT after all the economic messaiah hype
ASHANTI YOUTH HAS WAKEN UP. NPP WILL GO INTO OPPOSITION. DO YOU THINK YOU CAN DISRESPECTS ASHANTIS. WE WILL VOTE NPP OUT. THEY ARE LIES THIS MAN IS DELUDED. I PITY HIM WHICH HAS. THEY SHOULD REMEMBER THAT IT WILL NOT LAST FOREVER.
I think the regional minister did not speak well at all. so when will some of our party leaders will lean to silent so not to bring division in the party. mr. mensah wants to tell some of us that our candidate Ken is not better candidate in the party. this to me is loose talk from the regional minister in the npp or what. some of these ministers taking open stands of support should be very very careful because in the event of the otherwise happens, they will not like it.
Greediness will send the party to opposition big time, you want Dr Bawumia for you to continue your stealing, the grassroots is looking for a new leadership in the party. Nana Addo and Dr Bawumia have been leading the party since 2008. 16 years is enough, the party doesn’t belong to Nana Addo and Dr Bawumia. They should go, why are you soo greedy politicians like that? Dr Bawumia will take the party to opposition because you people have neglected the grassroots. The party executives should ensure there’s a fair playing ground for all the aspirants. As a regional minister supporting one candidate, what will you do if any one of the aspirants wins apart from Dr Bawumia? Will you support that candidate or what as a regional minister? You have 72 % majority in Ghana but you want to select a candidate from the minority 17% ? What is wrong with you people? If assuming you win the 17% and loose the 72% how are you going to win the election forgetting that, your opponent candidate is from the 72% ?
Hmmmmm, remember some of the people who will vote for Bawumia to " break the 8" are the school feeding caterers you disrespected when they visited your office to complain about challenges there are facing with regards to the school feeding program. If you asked to stand in front of these women to talk to them on why they should vote for Bawumia, can you look them in their face. I wish Bawumia succeeds but some of you have allowed the little power you have to carry you away. Are you aware majority if not all of the school feeding caterers are NPP supporters? Are you aware some of these women have more children of voting age than you? Are you aware women constitute majority of voters in Ghana? Will these women be justified if they insist they won't listen to you if you meet them in any NPP platform where you have to speak by also throwing their hands at you? At your age is that how a political matured person behaves towards people whose thumb print secured you your position?
