"I still cherish my relationship with you" says Alan Kyerematen, former Presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Alan Kyerematen on Monday, 25th September 2024 announced his decision to resign from the ruling NPP to start a new movement; Movement For Change.
Announcing his resignation during a press conference he said: "...under the circumstances, and given the context provided I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the NPP to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana as an independent presidential candidate"
Meanwhile, the former Trades Minister believes his decision won't destroy the NPP.
"My decision to contest as an Independent Candidate will not destroy the Party, but rather provide the Party an opportunity to participate in a Government of National Unity in the future, and avoid the risk of going into opposition with no dividends, in what arguably will be a difficult general election in 2024" he indicated.

I do not believe that Alan has a good advisor in his political career because his behaviour in two instances has proven otherwise. As much as I strongly believe that Alan has overestimated his influence and importance in the NPP, there is no doubt about his competence and hard work, but in politics, strategy and patience are very critical in certain instances to achieve your goal or ambition. Then, given Alan's behaviour in this regard, he seems to be behaving as in kingdoms where the succession to the throne is hereditary. I used US President Biden as an example when he stepped aside for Mrs Clinton and later strategically enjoyed overwhelming support to become President in his old age. WHO CARES?
Yeah, we know. It is a strategy to try to prevent an inevitable loss for npp in 2024 but Ghanaians won't fall for it. You are an elephant in butterfly's clothe, or in this case wings. Your aim is to distort the vote so that in the event of a run-off you will put your weight behind NPP. If you want real change why are you asking your so-called supporters to vote massively for NPP Mps, the same spineless MPs who could not stand up to the president when it became clear his cousin was driving dangerously with our economy on-board? The same Mps who said unless Ken was sacked they would boycott government business. Well , nothing has changed about hte economy but ken is still in office and even read the very budget they threatened to boycott in their presence! They were deceived that after concluding IMF deal and reading of budget their concerns would be heard. Both events happened but nothing about their concerns happened .Hahahahaha
